This week I bring you a guest post from fellow blogger Amy. Amy and I “met” because we are both For Two Fitness Ambassadors! Amy is currently training for her first half marathon — she has trained and successfully completed six full marathons prior to her upcoming race. You can follow Amy at Life to the Full. Enjoy!

What are you training for?
This week I will begin
training for my first half marathon in May!

Over the winter, I’ve been
running and strength training to maintain a solid base. I have run six full
marathons and am excited to give the half a try!

How do you balance your training with family time?
With work?
With work?
When I was working full-time
out of the home, I would run at 4:45 a.m. to make sure I was home when my
husband and son woke up. On easy run days, I would sometimes take my son out
for a run in the jogging stroller after work.

Now I stay at home with my
son and am a bit more flexible when I train. I can sneak a run in early in the
morning or during naptime. This winter has been too cold to take my son out in
the jogger, so the treadmill has been a lifesaver!

To maintain balance in life,
I do my best to keep my priorities in check. I’m a wife and mother first and I
just happen to enjoy running whenever I can fit it in. While working full-time
and while staying at home, my goal is to make fitness a priority but not to
have it cut into family time and responsibilities.

Who is your biggest supporter?
My husband has definitely
been my biggest supporter. When he’s not at work, he watches our little guy so
I can get out for a run! He doesn’t quite understand why I enjoy running so
much, but he supports me regardless.

Don’t all of our non-runner family and friends think we are crazy for training so hard?! I know mine do! Thanks, Amy! That was awesome.
How do your non-running friends/family feel about your training?
Do they think you’re nutty, too? 🙂
