It’s Friday! And I’m continuing with the conversation on running-life balance. It’s so important to have a supportive network around you when you’re training for a big race. Or if you’re training just to stay fit, or if you’re training as a beginner. And especially if you’re trying to lose weight and achieve a healthy lifestyle.
There are many reasons we choose to stay fit. It can be informative and refreshing to read other perspectives on training and learn how to balance it with, well — life!
I’m hoping to keep this dialogue going. It’s a unique opportunity we can all learn from, no matter your fitness or life goals. So without any further ado, here is this week’s guest, Erin!

My name is Erin, 30 something, married and I have a daughter who is 7. I live in the Florida south. I’m a transplant. I’m a pure breed New England girl. I was born and raised outside Boston, Massachusetts (GO RED SOX!!).
I never was much of a runner. I ran in middle school did track and cross country and that was it. I saw the light in 2010. I was approached to do a 5k and from then on out running has been one of my most favorite things to do. I ran my 1st 5k on November 2010, ran my 1st 10k on October 2011, 1st half marathon March 2013 and my 1st marathon on Jan 2014. I’m currently working on marathon #2. Which isn’t until next year. I’m also pretty much a junkie cuz I really want to run a 50k and eventually a 50 miler. I currently run the blog Love For Running. I have been totally inspired to finally join in the blogging world as I train for another marathon and whatever else life throws my way.
What are you training for (if anything)?
Treasure Coast Marathon which is March 1, 2015 (my 2nd marathon)
How do you balance your training with family time? With work?
I mainly train during the week after work. I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week so certain days I’m free to change up my training routine. But during the week I run after 7pm and usually run 4-5 miles and then on my long run days I pick the weekend. My husband and daughter are pretty supportive and understand “Mommy needs to run for a while.” They’ve been down this road before; they’re pretty much used to it.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My husband. He’s my rock. He understands what I have to do and endure. He may hate my running talk all the time (I never shut up about it) but he’s my BIGGEST supporter — my back bone.
Good luck, Erin! Can’t wait to hear how your training has paid off for Marathon #2!
