If you’ve run a race, you know there are different phases to racing. But did you know there are five distinct phases of running and racing that are easily categorized by song? Use this handy list of songs to guide you through your next race.
5 Phases of Racing Explained in Song
1. I can do anything!
The first phase of racing occurs before you even begin running. It’s the “I can do anything” phase.
2. Let’s do this!
The second phase is at the beginning of the race when you feel damn near invincible. You’re still riding high from phase one. The children!!!!
3. Believe!!
The third phase occurs at the mid-point of your race when things are challenging but still manageable.
4. I need a miracle.
Then there’s the dreaded fourth phase — when you’re almost to the finish line but not quite there yet. You’re laying it all out on the proverbial table but you can’t quit because this is when the real challenge begins. All YOU need is a miracle!
