Happy Hump Day!
This week is already breezing by. As you know, it’s my son’s spring break this week. We have so much planned. On Monday we ventured over to the Natural History museum with some friends. We tooled around, saw some dino bones and whatnot, and ventured into the mammoth exhibit. Boo was fascinated and soaked in as much information as he possibly could. I think we’ll need to take another trip so he can learn more before the exhibit’s gone! Little Bee seemed much less interested but still had a good time.
On Tuesday I completed my CPR/First Aid training. I’m so excited! I headed down to the American Red Cross and expected a really intimidating 2-hour long session. Thankfully it wasn’t intimidating at all, and I even practiced my choking maneuvers on a complete stranger. Good times. The CPR part with the dummy also wasn’t nearly as nerve-racking as I was expecting. Our class was really small, 7 of us total. And I knew one of the gentlemen there from a previous class in Maryland, so that was helpful. We were also told tips such as choosing to buy a used defibrillator is better than not having one at all, as you just never know when this could come in handy and potentially save a life.
Our instructor was very knowledgable and helped out a lot. The class I took was similar to the first aid courses a friend did, as I took was a blended learning class, meaning half was online and half was in person. This didn’t affect our learning in any way though. We learned all about how to effectively keep a first aid kit, where to get first aid kit refills, and much more! We found out from our instructor that this was a relatively new format — only about a month old. She said it seemed successful because students were coming in well-prepared and engaged — no one nodding off during the conventional 7-hour class, etc. I definitely felt like I was well-prepared and engaged. And I didn’t nod off. 🙂
Plus, in a little under an hour of in-class time, I was officially certified! I’m pumped. Definitely gonna look at getting myself a first aid kit from a good health and safety equipment suppliers – you never know when you might need one!
Whoop whoop! |
Today I’m looking forward to a chill day with minimal (if any) running around, and then come Thursday I’ll take the kids down to the Botanical Garden for storytime and Big Spring. If you’re in CLE, you should join us! Friday’s activities are yet to be determined but both kids need shoes so I may declare Friday “Shopping Day.”
Have a great day!

Tell me… have you taken CPR or First Aid? Did you find it intimidating or pretty easy and relaxed?
