Keeping a workout schedule will better equip you to tackle the next challenge in your plan and is a good idea regardless of what kind of training you do.
When life throws you very spoiled lemons and you’re floundering to make lemonade or anything remotely ingestible, it helps when your bestie comes to your rescue.
That’s kinda what happened this week. Life has thrown a huge sh$tball at my brothers and me, and I’ve been struggling. I’m usually cool, calm, and collected, but this week really rocked my world. When I told my husband I had no idea what to write or where to start with today’s Friday Five 2.0 post, know what that man did? He wrote it for me. I was speechless. That guy. #truelove
A little backstory: my husband has lamented my training plans in the past. Usually in jest, yes, but he’s given me a hard time once or twice before. It wasn’t until recently that he put together a solid training plan for himself. But now that he’s sticking with it, it’s been a game changer for him. Today he’s sharing his words of wisdom about why keeping a workout schedule is so important.
5 Arguments for Keeping a Workout Schedule
1. Plan your attack!
Creating a workout schedule will help you plan your attack. You can build workouts and add new exercises as you progress through your training.
2. Schedules help build confidence.
A workout schedule makes it super easy to track progress and growth. It will help you focus your efforts and provide consistency. Even if you’re not a runner you should schedule effectively. If you are struggling with this, an online personal trainer like Nathan Robinson could be helpful.
3. Schedules make it easy to review what works.
Not only does a workout schedule help you track progress and growth, but it also allows you to review your workouts and figure out what things are working for you and where you need improvement or a change in exercises.
4. Schedules keep you accountable.
Having a workout schedule keeps you honest. Without a schedule it’s easy to say, “eh, I’ll work out tomorrow.” But with your plan written down on paper, it’s less easy to get out of it without some sort of guilt. With a workout schedule, you’re more likely to stick to your goals and not let excuses get in the way.
5. Schedules help you find the best time to work out.
By tracking your workouts, you can readily pinpoint the best time of day for your body and energy level. You may believe you’re better and more focused in the late afternoons or evening but you could come to find just the opposite is true. With a workout schedule you can also keep track of what (or how much) to eat before or after. A schedule will allow you to experiment for your highest performance.
My husband does more traditional gym workouts whereas I do more running-based workouts. One of his friends lives in Norway and goes to Treningssenter Alfa Trening Bodø – the two of them often share workout tips and compare progress. It’s always fun to inject a little competition into your workouts! Nonetheless, we both schedule our training. By scheduling and tracking our workouts and progress, we’re both better equipped to tackle the next challenge in our plans. Not only this but we also now control our diet with regards to what we eat and how much, and we’ve also started taking protein shakes and supplements that are designed to help us with recovering after a workout and to build muscle. We were suggested a great brand after our friend had read these high impact whey protein reviews, so we figured we would test some products out ourselves!
Overall, keeping a workout schedule is a good idea regardless of what kind of training you do!
