It’s the last day of 2015. I’m so intrigued by what 2016 has in store for me. There are a few things I’m looking forward to and a few areas that I’d love to work on.
One of the things I struggled with a little bit in 2015 was trail running. I loved running the trails but the trails didn’t love me so much. Depending on my race schedule, I may consider incorporating more trail running in the mix to prime my legs and stay injury-free for those longer trail runs in the future.
I’m excited to work with more athletes in 2016. With the launch of No Excuses Running at the end of 2015, I’m looking forward to taking my coaching to the next level in 2016. There’s nothing more fulfilling than helping others achieve their goals. One of my favorite parts of being a coach is working with beginner runners. When we start, they’re fairly hesitant. But by the end, the ones that stick with the training and complete their first race are in love with the sport of running. It’s such a great feeling to be able to share with them, and it definitely strengthens our bond. I also love witnessing the friendships that grow from our group runs. It’s a tremendous experience.
I’m going to get back on the yoga bandwagon in 2016. I was firmly on for a while, and then things dropped off in the fall. I think I was forcing myself to do the same routines over and over and I lost interest. But yoga is an amazing sport in and of itself, and it’s particularly fantastic for runners. It helps keep us limber, flexible, and strong. I’ll definitely unroll my mat and stretch it out again sooner rather than later.
I’ll be attending my first blog conference in 2016 — FitBloggin’! I can’t wait. It’s going to be an amazing experience to connect and network with other like-minded individuals and meet some of my blog-friends in person. Plus it’s in Indy where we have some family, so the kids will get to visit and have a good time as well. I’m really looking forward to it!
I’m still hemming and hawing about which marathon to do. Will it be a spring marathon? Perhaps a fall one? Possibly both? I’m just not sure. Whichever one I choose, I know it will be the right decision and I’ll put in all my effort with training. I don’t want a repeat of 2015, that’s for sure.
In a week I’ll be attending my first meeting as a committee member for a local race with a great cause. I’m really looking forward to it. The committee is comprised of an amazing group of individuals. We’re sure to rock the 2016 race coming in July!
I look forward to the coming year. 2015 was great in so many ways, but 2016 will be even better!
Happy New Year, friends! Stay safe, have fun, and see you in 2016!!
