On Tuesday I alluded to a newly created race that I would love to tell you about today.
The Rock Hall Half Marathon is coming to Cleveland on August 23, 2015. I’m going to tell you why it’s awesome and why you can’t miss it.
A couple years ago, the Cleveland Marathon had a much different course. It used to meander through Cleveland and its historic neighborhoods, head east toward University Circle, through the Cultural Gardens, down the beautiful, tree-lined Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., and back to downtown Cleveland. Also a couple years ago, the Rock n’ Roll Marathon series came to Cleveland. Due to low registration, however, they pulled out before the second year’s race.
These two circumstances created a void in the Cleveland racing community and calendar. There are lots of runners in the greater Cleveland area. And lots of races on the west side, south side, and far east side. But none on the near-east side. For those of us yearning for a solid, half marathon course on the east side of Cleveland celebrating our history as Rock City, the Rock Hall Half Marathon and 5K is the answer.
What do you get with registration? Well for one thing, each half marathon registrant receives 1 free ticket to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum. If you register for the 5K, you can purchase a discounted ticket during checkout. Plus, you get one of these awesome finisher’s medals:

After the race, Rock Apocalypse (the School of Rock All-stars) will be performing at the post-race party at Voinovich Park.
I’ve been looking for an east side half marathon for a couple years now and here it is. I’m excited to make the Rock Hall Half my first half marathon of 2015 — and pumped up for so many reasons. I love music, I love running. I love Cleveland, and I’m an east sider! It’s like a match made in running heaven.
