I need more sleep + my toe hurts!

March 18, 2015
My head is still spinning from the weekend. As I mentioned yesterday, I ran 7 miles, then drove 6 hours on Friday. I was up super early both Saturday and Sunday and didn’t sleep well either night (mostly because I was so nervous I wasn’t going to wake up on time). I finally slept pretty well on Sunday evening, and then drove home on Monday.
As soon as I got home on Monday, we met with a realtor, had to scramble for dinner, and then I didn’t sleep well yet again! I don’t think my daughter got the memo that we’re supposed to sleep at night because she almost always wakes up around 4:30 am or 5:00 am just to have one of us go in her room, lay her back down, and tell her to go back to sleep. And honestly, if I weren’t already so exhausted from being a stay at home mom and training for a marathon, it probably wouldn’t be a big deal. But let me just tell you something — my eyes are burning!
I woke up bright and early Tuesday morning for a 4-mile treadmill run. “Bright” and “early” are misnomers. I forgot to set my alarm (I set the time but didn’t flip the switch to the on position) and woke up startled and panicked when I heard my husband’s alarm go off! Oops. Oh, and ever since daylight saving time, it’s now dark in the morning. So I should rephrase: “I woke up dark and late Tuesday morning.” That sounds less pleasing. Hmm.
Sooooo tired.
My point here, guys. My point. My point is that I’m tired and I need to face the facts that I need to go to sleep earlier. I’m also a bit worried about my big toe. Remember how I mentioned it was sore from my last long run? It turns out it’s still sore. I’m considering making an appointment to get it checked out. I’m not in excruciating pain, but what happens if it’s a stress fracture? I don’t want any part of making a stress fracture worse. I heard some stories this weekend. Believe me, it’s not pretty.

That’s all from here, friends. Oh wait, I did get to enjoy the spectacle of drunk college kids wandering around my street on Tuesday morning around 11:00 am. That was exciting. I was too slow with my camera to document the shenanigans. You’ll just have to take my word on how “awesome” it was…
Tell me… Did you get festive and wear green on Tuesday? And if you had the day off, did you imbibe with some green beer?

Have a lovely Wednesday! We’ll chat more tomorrow.
