Product Review: PROBAR Bolt + Bite + GIVEAWAY!

February 25, 2015
This post is sponsored by PROBAR. As always, all opinions and reviews are my own.
Happy Hump Day, friends! I’m really excited about today’s review. I’ve had a great opportunity to try out two products from PROBAR.
I was first introduced to PROBAR by my husband. He’s always on the search for the perfect protein bar. One day he came home from work touting the deliciousness of PROBAR Base. It’s tough to find an organic, non-GMO protein bar that is not only filling but also tastes great. It’s almost an anomaly.
PROBAR is non-GMO Project Certified, USDA or QAI certified organic, and many of their products are also certified Gluten-Free for those with gluten sensitivities.
But enough about that — let’s talk about the products!
As you know, I’m training for my first marathon. One of the most important pieces of marathon training is nailing down nutrition. Everything from foods eaten during the week leading up to the long run, the fuel you choose on the run itself, and how you replenish lost resources after the long run are all paramount to successful running. (More on nutrition in a future post.) Enter Bolt energy chews. Talk about perfect timing to try out a new product.

BOLT
Bolt are organic energy chews. Similar in texture to any of the other energy gummies on the market, these stand out to me not only in taste, but also in quality. Non-GMO, certified organic is important to me. I’ve often struggled with scarfing down a bag of other energy chews based on the fact that they’re all almost entirely synthetically made. Sure they taste good, and yes the energy keeps me going so I don’t bonk, but what am I really ingesting anyway?
Look! It matches my outfit!

On my last several long runs I’ve carried a pack of Bolt. The first time I had one, yum! I was so taken aback with the taste, I was truly surprised it was an organic energy gummy. So far I’ve had the pleasure of trying strawberry and berry blast. I was hesitant to try berry blast as it contains caffeine and I’ve never fueled with caffeine before, but it was really great and I didn’t notice any negative caffeine side effects. I also had zero tummy issues after consuming these chews while on the run. Major bonus there. These are keepers for marathon training and racing.

One complaint: they stick to my teeth. But they all do, and this is just something I have to deal with. ;)~

How does this color coordination keep happening?!

BITE
PROBAR has recently released a new product — Bite! Bite is a great snack bar. It’s healthy, it’s delicious, and you know how sometimes you feel kinda gross after eating an overly sweet or additive-heavy granola bar? This is the complete opposite of that.
I’m a busy mama. There are plenty of times I don’t get a chance to even eat breakfast before we have to leave the house to get our day started. And as a runner, this is a big no-no. I almost always have a granola/snack bar of sorts in my bag just in case… You never know. Plus with kids, who knows when they’re going to lose their marbles and need a snack. Am I right, mamas?

So I tossed a couple Bites in my bag.

And I ate them.
And I loved them.
My favorite? Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. Because… peanut butter and chocolate.

Mmmm…

A couple days ago my daughter and I had some time to kill between preschool drop-off and parent-teacher conferences. In true mama fashion, I brought my coffee and Bite with me for “breakfast.” I was really hungry. And I really didn’t want to share. But of course my daughter can spot food a mile away, so before I even tore the wrapper she was on me like fried on rice.

I reluctantly shared.
And she loved it, too!
So while Bite is marketed to grown-ups, it’s definitely kid-friendly in a pinch.
Bottom line — would I recommend PROBAR products to friends, family, fellow runners? Heck yes! They are amazing.

But wait — there’s more! I have two special gifts for you. First, a Rafflecopter giveaway for your chance to win a 12-pack of PROBAR Bite!

The second special gift is a coupon code good for 25% off any purchase from PROBAR. Use code PROBAR25ROH at checkout. This code is valid for 30 days so make sure you use it before we lose it.
