A Day in the Life Link-Up

January 21, 2015

Happy Hump Day! Today I’m linking up with a whole bunch of other awesome health and fitness bloggers for a Day in the Life link-up. Special thanks to Katie from Moms Little Running Buddy for hosting this really fun idea!

As you may or may not know, I’m the organizer of a large social group for parents and kids in my ‘hood. I often get asked, “how do you do it?!” in regard to my training, running, and parenting. And I always say the same thing: I make time. But believe it or not, my time is almost always during pre-dawn hours while the rest of the house peacefully slumbers. Some days I feel very anxious and rushed afterward, and other days are much more relaxed. But as a glimpse, here’s how my Tuesday went.
~
Woke up bright and early at 6:30 am and ran 3 miles. After my run, I hauled my butt to the shower so the Man can leave for work on time.
Post-breakfast, the kids played for a while, and then I had to start rounding them up to get them ready to take Boo to preschool. After preschool drop off, we came home and Little Bee played for about 10 minutes while I posted my blog and tended to my social media accounts.
Around 10:00 am we headed to a friend’s for a playdate! Little Bee and I haven’t been to playdates much (despite being the organizer of the group!) because I get so worn out from hauling two little people back and forth every. single. day. It’s exhausting! But Little Bee needs some friends, so I’m making a concerted effort to be social with her. 🙂
After our fun playdate, we headed home for a quick lunch, and then left to pick up Boo from school.

Pickup at preschool goes something like this:
Boo comes running out of his classroom, and gives his baby sister hugs and kisses. So cute, except that it’s annoying as hell when you need to get said baby sister back home for an afternoon nap (and she woke up at 6:30 am so she was a hot mess). Also awesome? When he starts fooling around with his BFF at school and doesn’t pay attention to a single thing I’m saying. Ever. (That part actually didn’t happen today because BFF had the day off.)
Gah!
Preschool pickup almost always puts me on the verge of getting a migraine. You heard it here first, folks.

As soon as we got home, I put Little Bee in bed for a much needed nap. And then the Man came home so I could get a haircut. It wasn’t nearly as relaxing as it should have been. I really should have driven around and wasted about two hours so I could enjoy my silence, but I didn’t have anything to do so I figured I’d just come home, do my push-ups and burpees, and shower to get the little hairs off.
After that, we hung out and played with the kids, I made dinner, and the kids both went to bed super early (by 7 pm!).
The rest of the week will be filled with cleaning the house and running errands for necessities. Can’t. wait. So there it is — a day in my life! Now you know. 🙂
