Man alive, this week has been bananas!!! I’m suddenly filled with anxiety, too. Iron Horse is this weekend, and not only am I traveling for it, but we just got notice of a showing for tomorrow, too. So now I’m trying to do some laundry to make sure I have all of my running apparel options available for Sunday, cleaning the house like a maniac, and tending to two crazy kids all at once.
It’s exhausting.
I’m also hoping to put together a new playlist for my race. I’ve been collecting songs I like via my lovely notepad on my phone for several weeks now. Tonight I’m going to go through and start purchasing so I can add them to my existing playlist. I’m also seeking opinions on must-have songs on my Facebook page. If you have a go-to song that pumps you up, submit it so I can add it to my playlist!
[I’m so stressed out.]
This morning my husband and I took the kids to the doc for their well checks. That was exciting. Boo, by the way, is feeling much better. Yesterday afternoon he spent some time running around neked, screaming and giggling. Because streaking is pretty funny even if it’s in your own home. 😉
Their check-ups went well up until the end when everyone had to get shots. Boo went first and only had two boosters. He screamed at the top of his lungs. It was hilarious. I’ve never heard a kid scream like that before for a shot. Ha! I know it’s not funny to laugh when they’re in pain, but it was so melodramatic and over the top, and he cried for about .5 seconds before it was over. It was hilarious. Little Bee, on the other hand, stared into my eyes, tears streaming, and screaming and crying. Of course she stopped crying quickly too, but it is so much worse when a baby cries than when a “big kid” cries!
My brain is so scattered. I should go clean my house for our showing tomorrow.
What should I take on my trip? Shorts? Tee? Tank? Compression socks? I just don’t know! I’m totally going to overpack. And if I’m planning on going to brunch right after, do I need to bring a change of clothes, or is it okay to go all shlubby? The town is tiny, from what I hear, so wouldn’t they expect a bunch of smelly, gross runners to invade their space for a couple hours after?
If you have any additional race day tips, please share. I’ve done this before so I’m not a newbie, and I’ve traveled for a race before too, but the nerves never go away. Even if you tell them to.
Have a happy day!
