Gooooooooooood morning, internet world! Today is Friday. Friday means a lot of things to a lot of people. Traditionally, Friday signifies the end of the work week. As a parent, there is no end to a work week because every day is the same when you have kids. This sentiment increases tenfold if you’re a stay-at-home-parent.
Friday means rest day for me! In my week of training, Fridays cannot come soon enough. My legs are tired, my eyes are tired, my brain is tired. Not having to wake up early to bust my bum is like having a weekend morning to sleep in again.
Friday is also the day I run the “Running-Life Balance” dialogue. Over the last several months, I have had the privilege of featuring many talented and multitasking people not only in the US but abroad as well. It has been an honor, and I’m so happy to have been able to post these articles. Thank you to all of my guests who have posted for me. Sadly, today will be the last day of the Running-Life Balance posts. I’m currently formulating another Friday topic that I hope will be up and running soon.
In the meantime, please enjoy today’s last post from guest Telisa. She’s a great athlete, and a positive energy to follow!

Hi! I am Telisa and I blog at The Best Blog Ever.
I am currently training for the NYC Marathon which will be my 8th marathon. I
have also ran 8 half marathons, a triathlon, and a handful of 10ks, 5ks, and
other shorter distances all in the last 5 years.

In order to balance the time it takes to
train for a race, I do most of my workouts at lunch which gives me time in the
evening to see my friends. I live across the country from my family so I use
running as a great reason for a race-cation with them. I’ve ran several races
near home and we are planning to run a DisneyLand race next year together. When I began running they became more
interested in races as a way to support me and also bring healthy physical
activity to their lives. They saw how excited I was about it and became excited
too. As someone who never participated in sports or any physical activity until
the age of 25, they can see how running has transformed my life both physically
and mentally and want to participate as well.

I just competed in my first fitness
competition which was a completely new and different sort of challenge compared
to marathon training. The fitness competition plan focused on eating clean,
lifting weights, and high speed cardio. I transformed my body and
went into this marathon training cycle much stronger and leaner than I have in
the past. However because I took a break from long runs I can again appreciate
the work it takes to build back up to those double digit miles.

My biggest supporters are my family.
Although we live far away from each other, they are able to check in on my
races through social media and we can participate in races together.

This weekend I have two runs planned. Saturday I’ll be running a 3 mile pace run, and then on Sunday I’ll be going out for an 8-miler. Seems like nothing compared to a DailyMile friend I know running a 50K this weekend. Good luck to her!
What about you? Any fun plans this weekend?
Have a great one. “See” you Monday! 🙂
