Happy Freaky Friday! And Friday the 13th! And Full Moon Friday! And Mercury Retrograde! Ok, so the last one doesn’t really fit, but WoW! We are in for it today, friends.
But before anything can possibly go awry, let’s check out Krysty and how she balances her running and training with life. It can be a slippery slope, and I’m just glad I have some good people willing to share their experiences.
Here’s Krysty!

I am Krysty of Run This Mom, a 2 time half marathoner, new mommy to daughter Hadley, and wife to The
Hubs. I blog about running, food, babies, my struggle with weight loss
(and gain, and loss) and life.

What are you training for?
I am currently training for my first half marathon post-baby. I am super
nervous, but I know that I can get right back out there and pick up where I
left off. I am not a fast runner by any means. I started as a
walker with Team in Training here in Minnesota, and slowly fell in love with running
over the last few years. I sort of think that my running life helped me
become a better person. It put me more intune with my body, and I learned
to speak it’s language. Becoming a Mom certainly has posed its share of
challenges where running is concerned! As did the Minnesota winter
this year. I set out this year to get back to my running, and had in mind
to run a lot…but life and babies have other plans. I finally feel like
I am in a place to actually get back to making running a part of my daily
life.

How do you balance your training with family time? With work?
I think for me the balance needs to be part of a daily schedule. I am
very lucky in that I am able to be a SAHM, and WAHM in a job that I love that
allows me to set my own hours. I can go for a dark thirty run for some
alone time, or a mid afternoon run with the baby in the jogger and soak up the
sunshine and not be stuck in the house for naptime. Now that I actually
have a training plan on paper, and a finish line to cross I can just take it
one day at a time, and know that I’ll get out of it what I put into it.

Who is your biggest supporter?
My Hubs is also a runner, not nearly as much in love with it as I am, but he
will run with me from time to time…and I so love that we can get quality
family time pounding the pavement together. When I completed my first
half I know that he was proud of me, but I don’t think he understood why I did
it. But when he saw me cross the finish line at my second half I know
that he could see it then He saw the pride on my face, and was able to
celebrate my success with me. I sort of think that might be when he
officially made up his mind to pop the question…because less than 3 weeks
later we were engaged. When I told him that I registered for my 3rd half
he asked “What can I do to make sure you get your training done?”
For reals kids. That is a good hubby. Not only is he my
biggest supporter and fan, he and now my daughter are my biggest motivation to
get out there and do it! I know that he will back me up, help push me to
meet my goals and celebrate my victories and successes with me.
