Giveaways! Google! Marathons!

April 25, 2014
I’m going to be frank with you. I’ve got a bit of a problem. A friend has commissioned me to write his marathon story, and I’m really nervous about it. Writing is storytelling. I’m a pretty good storyteller when it’s my own story to tell. But when it’s someone else’s, it gets… complicated. I want to make sure I convey the tone and feeling in the proper light. I want to retell the story as if it happened to me. But when it hasn’t happened to me, I can only narrate what I can imagine. And that’s where the trouble lies. I don’t want to get wrapped up in storytelling so much that it becomes farce. I want to speak the truth while still painting a vivid picture for myself and my readers. But most of all, I want to be accurate, fair, and to do the story justice. It’s particularly hard when it’s for a friend. You never want to let your friends down.
Anyways… just something I’ve been thinking about. I’m hoping to get his story written, edited, and complete in time for next Friday’s post. It’s truly a wonderful, uplifting, heartbreaking story all rolled into one. If I can figure out how to tell it right, you won’t be disappointed.
…
Sorry for the brief interruption, actually I know while you’re reading this there is no actual brief interruption, but I was just “away” trying to configure some Google nonsense. Let’s talk about Google for a moment. Do you know that I have not one, not two, but FIVE separate gmail accounts? What the h-e-double hockey sticks is that all about?! My gosh. It’s so insane. Thankfully I have two email clients to separate at least two of the accounts from the rest. But that means any time I want to check something in any of the remaining three, I have to go through at minimum two Google interfaces. And THEN, when I want to toggle back, it’s such a mind-f*ck trying to figure out which one to go to. Gah! It’s a mess. Time to consolidate.
Insert eye-roll here.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Google and gmail, but you’d think being such a tech-savvy web empire, they’d figure out how to make the toggling a little easier on the user. Just sayin’.
In other news, today is the LAST DAY to enter the For Two Fitness Anniversary Giveaway. I know, I know. I keep rambling on about it. But no joke, the prizes are awesome. Baby K’tan?! Maclaren?! For Two Fitness maternity apparel?! Kind Bars?! Come on! It literally doesn’t get much better than this. Check it out here for your chance to win!
I ran 3.25 miles this morning. I completed 9×400 speed work. It didn’t feel all that fast. I don’t think it actually was. But I didn’t feel like I was going to pass out between each set, so I think that’s a good thing. Right? My feet are sore, which is a first. I need yoga day to come. I still don’t like yoga day all that much. But I know it’s important to stretch and strengthen, so I do it. I’m becoming a little more confident with each session, but I’m sure I still look ridiculous. And seriously, my “teacher” is so bendy and flexible. It really makes the rest of us look bad. 😉
One more thing before I go… don’t forget to sign up for the Motivate Wrap bracelet giveaway. I’m wearing mine now and I’m not even running. And if you’re in the market for gifts for friends or family, or Girls on the Run coaches (thanks to one of my readers for suggesting this one!), use coupon code GGS158 to receive 15% off your order at www.designsthatmoveyou.com!
Have a GREAT Friday, friends!
