Good morning, friends. How have you been? I’ve personally been a little sleep deprived myself. This past weekend was super fun, though. My husband was off on Saturday (a rarity in these parts!) so we took the kiddos to the Cleveland Auto Show. It was great. Boo had a blast running around to check out all of the cars. Little Bee was less enthused but still seemed to enjoy herself. We got a scary glimpse of things to come…
Cruisin’
We enjoyed a nice packed lunch after walking around for a bit, then stopped for a photo opp on an awesome cushy pink throne (which was actually not cushy one bit).
Lunch time shenanigans.
Princesses!
After lunch, Boo of course wanted to ride the ginormous Ferris Wheel at the IX-Center. I volunteered because my husband didn’t have such a great time on one over the summer. He said it was shaky and scary. Of course my rebuttal was, “this one’s permanent” — because it is! Boo and I climbed the stairs, paid for our tickets, and climbed some more stairs to wait in line. At that point I was getting a bit shaky and sweaty, but figured that’s because I was standing on stairs. No big whoop, right?
It was our turn to get on the ride. We got in. The thing was huge! We could have fit at least eight people in it. There were no railings, it went all the way around in a large disc shape. Boo and I sat across from each other. The nice high school kid told me to “enjoy the ride,” and then he closed the door — the door that doesn’t actually lock. (Oh, and there are two entrances/exits in this thing).
So we start moving and I realized that there are no seatbelts, no railings, no safety contraptions whatsoever. Upon realizing this, I promptly moved to sit right smack next to Boo. I gripped his hand and told him to SIT STILL. Let me explain… my little guy is super curious and extremely energetic. If he made his mind up to explore, by golly he would explore. I had the death grip on him.
We made our way to the top. Highest freakin’ Ferris Wheel IN THE WORLD. No joke. My hands are sweating just thinking about the ride. Of course we stopped at the top so they could let people on, and at this point, Boo told me he didn’t want to hold my hand anymore because it was sweaty! Lol. So I gripped his leg. Poor kid just wanted to enjoy the scenery and his mama was flipping out! I wish I hadn’t realized how quickly we could become a statistic, because I swear, I actually do really enjoy Ferris Wheels!
Before the most terrifying Ferris Wheel ride of my life.
This was before I realized how fast we could become a statistic!
Anyways, after the most terrifying Ferris Wheel ride of my life, we finished wandering around the Auto Show, and then headed home in the cold and snow.
On Sunday I ran 9 miles. Farthest I’ve ever run in my life. Also one of the worst runs of my life. I literally stopped three times. I almost completely stopped two of those times. I was so exhausted, and bored, and hot, and bored. It was just an all around blah run. But, I did it, and that’s what matters. I spent the rest of the day completely exhausted. I took Boo to a program at this preschool right after my run, and gripped tightly to my coffee the entire time. In the afternoon we took the kids to the library to play, and then we enjoyed Chinese food deliciousness for dinner.
It was definitely an exhausting weekend, but totally worth it. We had a blast. I can’t wait for more like this! Minus the shoddy 9-miler, of course.
Hope y’all had a great weekend, too. Happy Tuesday!!!
P.S. Since today I did a bit of training as well, I’m sneaking that in here. Monday was yoga day and it felt great. This morning was 3 miles + strength day and now my legs feel like jell-o. That is all. Carry on!
