Happy Thursday, y’all! It’s been a pretty great week but I’m glad it’s coming to a close. Kids, school, and work make for one tired mama! Since today is Thursday and all, I’m linking up with Amanda for Thinking Out Loud. Here we go…!
Tapering, Chiropractic Care, and International Day of the Girl
First, let me say this. I’m officially in taper. If you regularly read my blog, you already knew that. But for those of you that don’t regularly follow along, I’m in taper for the Marine Corps Marathon at the end of October. What does this mean? It means I go through #allthefeels on a daily an hourly basis. I’m very much excited about taper, to be honest. But that means my palms are almost continuously sweating as I think about things like: what to wear, what’s the weather going to be like, how will I sleep, what will I eat, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!
But it also means I get to listen to awesome songs like this:
Because running. You’re welcome. 🙂
On chiropractic care
I saw my chiropractor on Wednesday afternoon and he thinks next week will be my last visit with him before the big dance! This round of chiropractic care has been great and I’m glad I’ve been going more often. Suffering with nerve, joints or even muscle pain is never easy for anyone, which is why visiting a Fairview, Oregon chiropractor, for example, or a local clinic, could help relieve the symptoms and manage the pains a lot better. I’m somewhat fearful to not see him race week but if the doc says I’m good, then I’ll take his word for it. Or will I? Time will tell. If you’ve been suffering from any aches and pains after running or working out then I encourage you to look for a cheap chiropractor in houston (or wherever you live) because you don’t realize how bad your injury has gotten until you get it looked at.
International Day of the Girl
On Tuesday I celebrated International Day of the Girl. I was originally planning on meeting with a friend or two to run some miles together but everyone’s schedules got kind of convoluted (including mine) so we nixed it. I ended up logging 3 miles solo on a beautiful, crisp autumn morning, and I really enjoyed it. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about girl- and womanhood, rightfully so in my opinion, and it was nice to be able to reflect on what it means to be a female in today’s society. I could continue on for an entire post on this subject but I’ll save that for another day.
Interested in joining me on my mission to raise funds for Girls, Inc. or to log some miles in honor of #IfGirlsRantheWorld? Click here! Every little bit counts — your miles and donation will help girls and women achieve great things.
Of course, birthdays…
Last weekend was my son’s birthday and birthday party. For once in our lives we had a lot of family in town for the weekend, so instead of one of those crazy big birthday parties we opted to have our family over for pizza and cake. And then we got the most adorable cousin-photo ever.
Coaching news
In other news, I’m very much looking forward to coaching some incredible runners in preparation for spring races. I think it will give me something to look forward to over the winter months. Plus it’ll help keep me in shape. I’m undecided on my 2017 racing plans at this time so coaching these athletes will give me some direction and hopefully some decisiveness on my own goals and races. I have a few spring races in mind but we’ll see how the next two or three months go and then I’ll start making some decisions.
That’s all from here, folks. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll catch you back here on Friday!
