Remember how I said I was doing better in terms of exhaustion and marathon training? Farce. Complete and utter farce. I’m pooped. More on that next week.
In other news, I completely dropped the ball on a campaign I was participating in for the week leading up to Valentine’s Day! So, today I will play catch up!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that on Monday was Day 1 of the #whatslovely campaign, hosted by Jenni at Fitzala. Each day there is a new topic of things we should appreciate — whether it be ourselves, our physical fitness, friendships — lots of different topics. Here’s the breakdown if you want to play along (better late than never!):
Day 1: YOU
Day 2: Friendship
Day 3: Working Out
Day 4: Food (!!!)
Day 5: Strength
Day 6: Love (Happy Valentine’s Day!)
Since I missed the last couple days, here’s a brief synopsis. (Day 1 can be found on Instagram).
Friendship
My friends are lovely. My playgroup friends, book club friends, running friends, camp friends, school friends (grade school, high school, college), ambassador / blogging friends — I’m grateful for every second that I get to spend with any of these amazing, beautiful people.
I wish I had posted on this topic because there are so many people I would love to name here, but this cheesy friendship quote will have to do (it’s one of my all-time favorite quotes):
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Working Out
Working out does wonders for the mind, body, and soul. We are rational beings that sometimes need to take time to be irrational and escape every day life. Exercise and working out allows us to recharge and reboot our systems. I’ve been participating in various physical challenges lately, and it’s been amazing to see what my body’s capable of. Just the other day I attempted a one-leg downward dog and even though it was tough, I (kinda) did it.
Food!
Obviously my favorite topic… food nourishes our bodies and allows us to function at an efficient rate. Unfortunately for me, my latest brush with food was a delicious recipe swap. Fittingly, our theme was “Sweets for your Sweet” and we all made amazingly bad-for-you desserts for Valentine’s Day. Lucky for me, I made Matcha Butter Cookies! Okay, okay — they aren’t good for you by any stretch. The recipe calls for 3 sticks of butter. BUT! It also includes 2 Tbsp of matcha, and who doesn’t benefit from matcha?! (P.S. Look for the recipe soon!)
All right, I’m all caught up here. Phew — so what if I’m a little late to the party? It’s all good.
Have a happy day!
