I gotta tell ya… I had a heck of a day on Tuesday. Let me start at the beginning.
On Monday our house was officially listed on MLS. If you’re unfamiliar with real estate and the ins and outs of selling (or buying) a home, it basically means our house was officially posted “for sale.” Tuesday brought the brokers open, which means a whole bunch of realtors from our area came to scope out the new listing. Namely, our house. Fortunately (?) this isn’t our first rodeo so we knew what to expect, plus we did some prior research into some certain realtors using a website such as Rate-My-Agent.com and others also online. Since we were traveling over the weekend, we spent the entire day on Monday cleaning up after my in-laws left, and organizing the remaining clutter we hadn’t already organized. Oh, plus doing loads (yes, many) of laundry.
I don’t even want to think about what I’ll do if the washing machine breaks. It doesn’t even bear thinking about because it will just stress me out, probably to the point of me not being able to do anything. I have so much laundry to do that it just can’t break. It absolutely can’t. That’s why I’m thinking about taking out some sort of home warranty plan with a company like First American Home Warranty so I won’t have to worry about any of the repair processes or anything like that because they’ll do it all for me. Even the thought of that is making me feel a lot better, so maybe that’s what I should do. But before I do that though, I’m just going to put another load of laundry on.
Now, here’s the catch. Try cleaning, mopping, laundry — whatever chores you have to do — with two kids running around: fighting, playing, saying “mama” or “dada” on repeat. It’s essentially a little glimpse of hell. To say it was an exhausting day would be an understatement.
But like I said — not our first rodeo. We knew what was coming and we really just needed to focus on cleaning up after our guests and our trip. Nothing catastrophic. Just a little more time consuming with the little people hanging around.
All right. Let’s fast forward from Monday night to Tuesday morning. I dropped Boo off at school, came home with Little Bee to make beds and get our things ready for our morning/afternoon away from the house. Little Bee and I spent the morning at the mall. We had big plans. We were going to buy shoes for her, poke around in the grown-up department for a while, and have lunch. Things were off to a smooth start. Oddly enough, I don’t recall ever taking her to Nordstrom for shoes (or lunch), and there we were, in front of the giant fish tank, which had tropical fish and a reef tank LED light, lighting it up in all its glory. And of course who can forget the balloons? After the saleslady brought Little Bee a balloon, the shoe adventure began. Little Bee tried on two pairs of shoes and it was a very easy and quick decision. On to the grown-up section!
I was perusing the bathing suits, which were very reasonably priced — at the low cost of $194! We moved on to the sale rack where I promptly found my new favorite item of clothing. #winning

Although I wasn’t entirely sure because then I saw this:
I’ve actually been dying for this jacket all winter but the sleeve fit funny. Boo. |
I put them both on hold. Little Bee and I went to lunch at the restaurant inside Nordstrom. I had never been but it was quite good. And they spoiled us by giving us a mini box of organic raisins while we waited for our meals. Little Bee was so well behaved, and we had such a good lunch together.

After lunch we went back to where my items were on hold. We went to the dressing room, I took a couple selfies to send to my husband to get his opinion, and then when I didn’t hear back from him I picked which one fit better. I brought my shirt to the desk and checked out. As I was loading up the stroller with our bags, Little Bee decided she wanted to carry one of the bags.
I sh*t you not, it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. And so insanely ridiculous. My little girl, in her eggplant and heather striped leggings, with her eggplant sweater and glittery ballet flats, was carrying around a Nordstrom shopping bag. I swear I’m not pretentious by any stretch of the imagination, but I can only imagine how this might have appeared to the passerby. Ah, nevertheless, I of course needed a picture of this moment!
But my phone was dead. I was so disappointed. Tear.
I got to the car, plugged in my phone and… wait for it… nothing. My phone turned on for a brief moment. The date was December 31 and the time was 7:00 pm. And then it shut off again.
Mmmmkay…
We picked up Boo and headed to the library to kill some time before heading back after the brokers open. I emailed my husband. I was pissed. He responded and said he thought it was the “new” battery he had put in a couple weeks ago. Which meant I was phoneless for the entire rest of the day. No pictures, no texts, no emails. No music! It was devastating!
Originally our realtor said they would be done by 2 pm so I could bring Little Bee home for a nap. I pulled in the driveway, peaked my head in the door, and they were still there. We drove around for a half hour, looking at beautiful homes and chatting (Boo and me — Little Bee was napping, of course). I finally decided to take the kids home at 2:30 pm. We came home and the realtors were still there. But we snuck in anyway.
The rest of the day was the usual — TV time for Boo, computer time for me, nap for Little Bee. My phone is finally “fixed” — my husband put my old battery back in. I feel a little better now, but who knows what today and the next day and the next after that will bring. It may be time to retire my trusty 4S.

Tell me… how do YOU fare with technology? Have you ever had a phone crash on you in the middle of your day like that?
