Now, I’ve been on the market for some polarized sunglasses for a while. My husband was able to find the best mens sunglasses collection out there so I was very jealous when they arrived because I had to keep searching for a pair for me! But, I think I’ve found a pair that looks good and are perfect for running.
As a newly appointed BibRave Pro, I’ve been given the opportunity to field-test a pair of shades — the USA1 Polarized Sport Sunglasses by XX2i Optics. When I received them and tore into the box, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these sunglasses. Not only do they look slick (white sunglasses, for the win — Sara, am I right?) but they came in an amazing zippered case and with a cloth pouch. I know a lot of people don’t pay much attention to the carrying accessories, but I totally do. I’m a bit of a sunglass snob so to receive both is fantastic.
I’ve been in the market for polarized lenses for some time but never settled on any that truly fit my face, so receipt of these for product review was both welcome and timely.
Now, before I proceed, I need to admit that I’ve only run in these shades twice. Unfortunately the weather has been so awful lately that we’ve literally been under cloud-cover for weeks. On Monday there were snippets of sunshine in the afternoon — yay! — and on Tuesday it was sunny all day but brutally cold. So what did I do? I did what any good runner would do and tried them out on a cloudy-day run, and then again briefly on a chilly, sunny day!
Initial thoughts — really comfortable. The nose pads are completely adjustable which makes fitting them to my small face with long lashes very easy to do. The temple tips are rubber but — get this — don’t get stuck in my hair! It’s like we were meant to be together.
As I mentioned, I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of polarized lenses for a while. Why polarized? Because this is the difference:
While the difference may not seem that significant, it’s most dramatic when dealing with snow glare while running, glare from the water such as when fishing, and glare reflecting from cars while driving. I’m not a fisherman but I am a runner and I do drive a car, so polarized lenses are important to me.
On our super sunny day, I wore the XX2i glasses around town to run errands with my girl, Little Bee. They were comfortable, fashionable, and the polarization cut the glare from both the snow and cars. They worked great!
Bottom line — would I recommend the XX2i Optics Polarized Sunglasses to friends and family? Totally. They’re awesome! I couldn’t be happier. I look forward to sunny day runs and long, summer runs when I can wear them all day long. Now who do I talk to about turning the sunshine back on?
