There’s something magical about fall and I’ve got a few fall favorites I look forward to every year! What do you look forward to in autumn?
While I always grieve the end of summer — the long days, the warmth, and the sweaty, glorious runs — there’s something special about fall. It’s that magical time of year when leaves are crispy, bonfires and hoodies prevail, and hot apple cider joins the ranks as one of my most beloved beverages.
I have a lot of fall favorites and it’s hard to narrow it down. But here are a few things I look forward to each and every fall:
These are a Few of My Fall Favorites
1. Apple picking and apple fritters.
No fall season is complete without family bonding time while apple picking. Lucky for us, our local orchard also specializes in making the most delectable pies, donuts, and apple fritters. The baked goods are to-die-for. If you don’t get there early enough, the 8 gagillion trays of fritters may be empty and you might have to go home empty-handed. It’s a sad, sad day when that happens, friends. Lesson here? Get there early. Do it for the fritters!
2. Fall hiking.
There’s nothing better than donning a hoodie and hiking boots and enjoying the fall sunshine on the trail. I enjoy trail running as much as the next person but one of my all time fall favorites is fall hiking. Listening to the sounds of crisp leaves crackling and crunching under foot, enjoying the smells, sounds, and beauty of nature… It’s perfection.
3. Hot apple cider and a campfire.
Another one of my fall favorites is enjoying a piping hot mug of apple cider next to a bonfire. The smell and taste of the cider plus the smell and sight of the fire creates a feast for the senses.
4. Puffy vests.
I’m a huge proponent of puffy vests. I wait all year long to wear mine. Summer is much too hot for a puffy vest. Winter is far too cold. And spring is usually just too darn wet. But fall… that’s where it’s at. Bring on the puffy vests!
5. And football games!
I used to love going to football games before I had kids. We had to take a several year hiatus due to the fact that the kids were so little. But now that they’re older, they want to go to football games, too! To me, football games = puffy vests, hoodies, AND apple cider. All at the same time!! Disclaimer: I don’t even like football all that much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m going to be sad when summer departs for good. I love my warm, sunny days and wearing shorts and sandals. But I do love fall and I’m looking forward to enjoying some of my fall favorites very soon!
