The Run and Be Well | Women’s Trail Running and Wellness Retreat is coming August 14-16, 2020. Join us for an epic weekend in the woods.
Let me start off by saying I’m both excited and terrified of this post. Why? Because it’s a big thing that I’ve been thinking about forever, talking about for years, and working toward for months. It’s a big, scary goal that I’ve wanted to come to fruition for a very long time and finally, it feels like things are starting to fall into place.
I’m proud to introduce the Run & Be Well Women’s Trail Running & Wellness Retreat. It’s a bit of a mouthful but the words describe exactly what it is. Let me tell you a little more about it.
Run & Be Well | Women’s Trail Running & Wellness Retreat
The Run & Be Well Women’s Running Retreat will be held August 14-16, 2020 in the picturesque Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There are over 125 miles of trails ready to be run, hiked, and explored within the CVNP. The CVNP is located a short distance from both Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, which makes it an ideal location. It’s easily accessible yet far enough away to unwind and immerse yourself in nature.
Retreat guests will be staying in a dorm-style cabin with bunk beds and shared rooms. It’s a very clean and lovely facility and we couldn’t be happier! All meals will be served in the lodge and are included in registration. Plus we’ll have campfires, trail runs, HIIT workouts, yoga, and a few other tricks up our sleeves. It’s really going to be an amazing weekend.
What’s your why?
The question I’ve received time and again through the planning and the slow trickle of info to friends and family has been this: WHY? Why am I choosing to host a retreat? Why now? And why this type of retreat? For lots of reasons, to be quite honest.
I grew up going to camp in the north woods. It was the experience of a lifetime and I’m so fortunate I had the opportunity to go. I silently thank my parents every day for sending me up north all those summers. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without camp and spending time outdoors getting dirty and being silly.
Truth be told, I’ve been trying to get back to that metaphorical place ever since I left the physical space all those years ago. Camp was my second home and I felt whole there. If I can share that experience in just one small way for even the shortest amount of time with other people, I will feel fulfilled.
That’s the biggest driver for this retreat.
Another why for me is I love meeting new people and trying new experiences. I wasn’t always like this. I preferred routine and comfort. But the older I get, the more I realize life is SHORT. If you don’t get out there and do things that make you uncomfortable, you’re not really living. Life is meant to be experienced.
Third, I’ve been pondering a retreat like this for years. But the time never seemed right. I was either too busy with my own training, or the kids were too little. But now the time just feels right. I owe a lot to the women of Fit Approach because they lit a fire under my ass. After attending Empower Camp last summer, I realized I have to make my dream a reality before it’s too late. I had such a wonderful experience there and I’m sad I can’t attend this year. But I think it’s a blessing in disguise because now I can bring the Run & Be Well Retreat to life.
So now that you know a little bit about my why, here’s a little more about the retreat and what you can expect:
The Run & Be Well Women’s Trail Running & Wellness Retreat is a 2-day retreat experience.
The goals of the retreat are threefold. It’s designed to: enhance the trail running and fitness experience for active women; introduce new activities to those who have always wanted to try trail running, yoga, or HIIT workouts; and most importantly, to build community. The retreat will bring new people together and allow us to expand our social circles, and leave with a stronger community than before we began.
Women of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels are encouraged to attend!
This is a great opportunity for a short getaway to unplug, unwind, and reset. You’ll return to “real life” refreshed and rejuvenated.
There are different retreat packages.
Some of them include linens, pillows, towels, etc. Others do not. Please, when you’re registering, make sure you confirm you’re choosing the package that works best for you. The current packages range from $245 to $265. There are a few price increases so be sure to double check the dates!
Once you sign up, you’ll be invited to join our private Facebook group.
This is the best place to go to learn all about each other prior to the retreat. It’s where we’ll really start building our community. It’s also a really great tool to stay up to date on the most current retreat info like scheduling, weather, packing lists, and more.
