Five TV Shows I’m Loving Lately

August 3, 2018

I don’t watch a lot of TV shows but the ones I do are pretty rad. What’s on YOUR television?

I don't watch a lot of TV shows but the ones I do are pretty rad. What's on YOUR television?

Happy Friday and welcome back to the Friday Five 2.0!

Today I’m going in a completely different direction and telling you about something completely random — my TV viewing habits. I don’t watch a lot of TV because I don’t have a ton of free time. But when I do, it’s with my husband and we usually pick one or two shows at a time to rotate through. In the future, considering we’re running out of preferrable choices, my husband thought he’d start looking around on sites such as you can find if you were to click here, for example. Apparently, he’ll be able to find us a bigger selection of shows to watch, so we should never actually run out of things to enjoy in our downtime!

I’d love to know what shows you’re watching so stick around and comment at the end.

Five TV Shows I’m Loving Lately

1. Madmen

Yeah yeah, I’m late to the party. Like, years late. Admittedly, I scoffed when Madmen first came out and I had no interest in watching it. But then we saw it on Netflix one night and decided to give it a go. And of course we were hooked. My husband still can’t get over the series finale. Watch Madmen on Netflix.

2. The Handmaids Tale

Best show ever. So anxiety-inducing. Totally makes me want to kick some ass. I can’t WAIT for it to come back for season 3! Check out The Handmaids Tale on Hulu!

3. The Crown

I don’t know what I like most about The Crown: the costumes, the set design, or the intricacies of the monarchy. It’s such a wonderful show and I’ve learned so much watching it! “Wait, did that really happen?” {Pauses TV. Opens Google.} You can find The Crown on Netflix.

4. This Is Us

Ah what a great show. So raw and real. This Is Us is such a phenomenal show. I still miss Parenthood, though. But this is definitely a keeper. This Is Us is on NBC.

5. Empire

Again, late to the party. We just started watching the second season. The first season was so amazing! I love all the music and the ridiculous family drama. The Lyon family has a crazy family dynamic and this show keeps you guessing where the loyalties lie. I can’t wait to see what happens! Watch Empire on FOX.

I know it’s an odd collection of shows that my husband and I watch but they’re all SO GOOD in such different ways. I’m looking forward to the fall when all the new seasons start up again!

Let’s talk!

What’s one of YOUR favorite TV shows?

Do we watch any of the same TV shows?

I haven’t seen any of these! The Handmaid’s tale has been recommended to me but I think it would enrage me too much. Shows I DVR daily are The View and Colbert. Other than that, we love the reality shows Survivor and Big Brother!

Do you have Hulu? They’re all such good shows. I hope you get to watch them sometime!

We don’t have cable so are a bit limited. I watched the first season of the Crown, started the second but haven’t finished it — my husband and I usually watch some tv at night (that’s what you do when you don’t have kids, LOL).

I really enjoy Code Black (hello, Rob Lowe never gets old — figuratively & literally) & it’s a summer show that was canceled but then came back this year & apparently will be back again next year.

Oh cool! I never heard of Code Black. But Rob Lowe is awesome.

We don’t have cable either. We have Hulu and Netflix and catch most of our shows there.

I subscribed to Hulu so I could get in on The Handmaid’s Tale. I’m just at the start of Season 2. We just watched the finale of Nashville. I don’t think there are any other dramas we watch together, but we do watch the ABC comedies.

We were hooked on MadMen when it was originally on. I actually own the whole series on DVD but of course can now just pull it up on Netflix. We LOVED Breaking Bad and also love its spinoff, Better Call Saul just as much. The new season is about to start, and we can’t wait. We are also watching Sharp Objects right now–it’s fantastic!

I watched “This is Us” last year, but could not get into it this year. Maybe I will have to do a binge to catch up. Baseball is usually on our TV in the summertime! Hubby and I (OK, mostly him) are Phillies phans!

I loved This is Us but couldn’t get my husband to watch! We’re watching The Deuce (by the guy who did The Wire – one of our faves) now. Recently, we loved Sneaky Pete and Ozark and the mini-series Five Days.

It took me a while to get to the Crown, and once I did, I was hooked. Now I’m waiting not so patiently for the second season to hit DVD. I know I’ll binge it, and it’s worth it. This fall brings back two shows for me, and January will probably bring in Victoria season 3 on PBS.

Handmaid’s Tale is so good, but honestly, I’ve had to take it one episode at a time this season because it’s just so intense. Also +1 to This Is Us!

I’m finishing up the 6th season of Orange is the New Black. I absolutely love that show. I wait for it to come out every year and then I binge watch the entire thing in like a week haha.

Okay let’s talk about Orange is the New Black. I liked the premise. But there’s just so much boobie I can’t take it. It’s just gratuitous to a fault!! I made it through two seasons I think and then I had enough.

I LOVE The Handmaid’s Tale. It makes me so angry. Haha.
