My racing bucket list isn’t long or overly exciting. But there are several races I’ve been hoping to run for years. Maybe I’ll start chipping away in 2019!
I don’t have many races on my bucket list. But the ones I do have are ones I’ve been wanting to do for years. I haven’t figured out how to make them happen quite yet for one reason or another. Either they’re cost prohibitive (Big Sur and Grand Tetons, I’m looking at you) or I haven’t convinced a friend to travel with me yet. But I will make these races happen sooner or later in the next few years!
My Racing Bucket List {Friday Five 2.0}
1. Big Sur Marathon
I never really had any plans to run Big Sur Marathon to be completely honest. But when I realized my brother lives only 45 minutes away from the finish line, it quickly skyrocketed to the top of my racing bucket list. Plus I know I have a friend interested in traveling with me!
2. Run Woodstock
If you’ve known me for any amount of time, you know I have three passions: music, running, and the great outdoors. Which makes Run Woodstock the perfect place and festival for me. Run Woodstock has been on my racing bucket list for I don’t even know how many years. And it’s not too far for me to travel to, either. Now I just have to convince some other dirty hippies to join me in Michigan!
3. Detroit Free Press Marathon
Admittedly, the draw to the Detroit Free Press Marathon is the idea of running into Canada. That’s pretty sweet. But there have been two things keeping me from registering for this race. First, Marine Corps Marathon is almost always the week after and I’ve been running that for three years. No back to back marathons for this girl. Second, making sure one has all the proper documentation to run across the border is fairly intimidating. But that’s not a good reason to skip the race so this race remains on my racing bucket list!
4. Grand Teton Half Marathon
I signed up for the Grand Teton Half Marathon back in 2015 with the intention to run the 2016 race. Unfortunately I didn’t realize how difficult (and costly) it would be to travel to and secure lodging in the area so I had to cancel my registration. I was very sad to miss it but I vowed I would run this race someday.
5. Burning River 50
This is just crazy talk right here, but I get major FOMO when it’s Burning River season. I even ran it this year and I still had FOMO from all the 50- and 100- mile runners. Why? I dunno!! I’m not entirely sure I even have the drive to run 50 miles. But it remains on my racing bucket list because why the hell not?
Hopefully I’ll be able to chip away at my racing bucket list within the next two or three years. Only time will tell! Want to join me for a race or two?
