5 Favorite Summer Essentials

As we head into the weekend, we’re looking at potential record-breaking heat indexes here in the CLE. It’s gonna be HOT! I hope you all have your Best Cooling Fan ready to survive the heat. But let’s face it — I love the heat and I love summer so I’m not complaining one bit. Having said that, there are a few summer essentials I embrace during the warmer months to keep my skin safe, my body hydrated, and my odor somewhat pleasant. Check out my favorite summer essentials!

This post is sponsored by Degree Women but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

5 Favorite Summer Essentials

1. Sunblock

I protect my skin and use sunblock on every run. Since I’m outside during high sun, I aim for an SPF of 30 and try to use sprays as they’re lighter and less goopy-feeling than lotions. I also pay particular notice to my shoulders and chest since those are the areas I get sun the most.

2. Sunglasses

I also protect my eyes by wearing polarized sunglasses. The polarization cuts down on the glare and helps me see better, and the UVB coating protects my eyes from harmful sun rays.

3. Water bottles

During the summer months, I carry water with me everywhere. I keep a full bottle in my car at all times, I take some with me to the playground to sip while my kids play, and I even carry a bottle with me to run errands. Dehydration is no joke and I’d rather be safe than sorry! Oh — and I don’t use those single-use water bottles. I love my study, metal ones. If you get a good one it will last 20+ years!

4. Face scrub

I was never really into the whole “special face scrub” thing until recently. But now that I’ve tried it, I’m totally hooked and plan on continuing to use it through the rest of the summer. The scrub really helps keep my skin healthy, clean, and refreshed. However, for some people, scrubs may cause irritation, so before getting yourself any, check with a ues dermatologist or one that you can access easily near you, to find out the best method of face cleaning.

5. Dry deodorant

I’ve been using this new deodorant lately — the UltraClear Black + White Dry Deodorant — and it’s been amazing. It goes on instantly dry so there’s none of that weird underarm sensation when you put it on. The other great thing about the UltraClear Black + White Dry Deodorant is it protects against white marks and yellow stains so I can wear cute summer outfits without worrying about what may happen to the fabric.
