Remarkable Movies with a Hidden Love Story

I just finished an amazing movie — one that I literally could watch on repeat many more times and never get sick of it. And one of its underlying themes is, you guessed it, love. I thought I’d go in a non-traditional direction with the theme and take a look at movies with a hidden love story.

Some of the best movies are the ones with hidden love stories. Have you seen any of these? Remarkable Movies with a Hidden Love Story

Remarkable Movies with a Hidden Love Story

1. Interstellar

I’ll start with Interstellar. This is the one I literally just finished on my run and yet immediately wanted to restart it to watch it again. Have you seen it? If you haven’t, I highly recommend it. Yes, it’s a sci-fi movie. And yes, it has an incredible ending. But it has an element of love that is so fundamental to the story that a) you probably won’t realize it unless you’re looking for it and b) it wouldn’t be the same story at all without it. I “got it” the first time I saw it but quickly forgot about it. The more times I see it, the more I realize how important it is as the core narrative.

2. Tombstone

A classic movie in all its Kurt Russell glory. Tombstone is the story of Wyatt Earp and his brothers, Virgil and Morgan, on their quest for a life of easy money in the American west. Unfortunately things don’t work out that way and they ultimately clash with the Cowboys — a lawless gang who terrorize the city of Tombstone. Through all the gunfights, bar brawls, and tobacco spitting, there is an underlying love story between Wyatt and Josephine Marcus. It’s a great flick and if you haven’t seen it, you definitely should.

3. Inception

Inception is an amazing movie. It’s complex, it makes you really think, and sometimes it gets so confusing and dark you’re not quite sure where you’re going or where you were. But at its core is love. The driving factor of this inconceivable journey is love. It might be strange and slightly twisted, but it’s love nonetheless.

4. The Town

The Town is another one with an unexpected love story buried deep. It’s easy to get sucked in to all the action and criminal activity, but it’s equally as easy to get swept up in the love story tucked inside. Plus, Ben Affleck. Yes, that’s a complete thought.

5. Frozen

You didn’t think I would leave you on the Friday leading up to Valentine’s Day with a list of hidden love in tragic and often dark stories, did you? Heck no!

Disney’s Frozen is the ultimate love story. If you haven’t seen it, I’m certainly not about to spoil it here. Let’s just say that the surprise love story gets me literally every time I watch it with my kids — which is at least once a week. But to be sure, I would gladly watch this animated film any day of the week, with or without kids. It’s a wonderful story and has an amazing message behind it. Like I said, I won’t spoil it if you haven’t seen it. But if you have, I’m sure you’ll agree that the unexpected love story is unconditional and pure.

'#Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space.' #Valentine

Hopefully I’ve introduced you to a few new flicks you haven’t seen yet — or shown you that even in some of the most unsuspecting stories love persists. They’re all incredible movies. I hope you like them.

Happy Friday, everyone! Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!
