Happy Friday! With the ending of the original Friday Five last week, the lovely ladies of Fairytales and Fitness and I decided to team up to keep the momentum going. We really loved the Friday Five community and didn’t want to see it end so soon. As such, we bring you the Friday Five 2.0 linkup!
I personally loved reading everyone’s fun Friday Five posts. It was one of my favorite blog posts of the week — both to write and to read. Our hope is to keep everyone connected and having fun with this new linkup.
Having said that — for the next two Fridays we’re going to keep things casual. This week and next week our themes are “free.” Starting in November we’ll pick it up with some actual themes for everyone to focus on. I hope we make you guys proud and you’ll join us for a new-ish, fun linkup!
Look for November’s themes to be posted next week!
Now, onto the linkup! For this week’s theme I’m going to give you five reasons I love blogging.
Five Reasons I Love Blogging
1. It’s cathartic.
I enjoy writing. Always have, always will. I like having a little bit of quiet time to myself each day to sit down and put pen to paper — sometimes in the literal sense. There are many times that I don’t have the opportunity to sit down at the computer or pick up my phone to type something up, so I grab a scrap (or two or three) of paper to write my post. I love writing. Blogging is great for those who love to write and share their experiences and thoughts with others if you are interested in blogging and you’re aren’t sure where to start, there a lot of resources out there for you to try.
2. I love reading other people’s thoughts.
When I first started the blog, this was my online diary of sorts. I wrote it only for me and mostly about being a mom. It’s evolved a lot since then, and now I enjoy reading other people’s posts as well. What started as my own little bubble has since ballooned into so much more. It’s been a fascinating journey.
3. The blogging community rocks.
When I first became a Sweat Pink ambassador I was all like, “this is cool.” But now I’m all like, “this is where I need to be.” There’s something really special about the blogging communities I belong to, but specifically Sweat Pink. It’s a group of grounded, strong and fit women (and a few men) of all walks of life. We are varied in age, geographic location, religion, race — you name it. And it’s perfect. So if you are thinking about starting up your own blog then you should just go for it. Don’t hold back, write about something you love.
4. I like learning new things.
Back to #2, when I started this blog I was a stay-at-home-mom. I was trying to keep up with my professional skills such as desktop publishing and design work. I’ve done so to an extent but with blogging I’ve learned so much more than I ever believe I would have in a professional setting. I now consider myself a work-at-home-mom which is a challenge in and of itself. But I learn something new about technology, photography, code, or social media almost on a daily basis.
5. Connecting with readers and meeting new friends.
This is one of my all-time favorite things about blogging. Besides #3 and the blogging community, I have connected with people I never would have otherwise met or spoken to just by way of this blogspace. I’ve also reconnected with some folks I haven’t seen in years. I read each and every comment on my blog and I respond to every one. I truly enjoy the interpersonal connections in the vast space of the interwebs. Through the blogosphere I feel I can pick up and adventure off to any city and find a “friend” I’ve met through blogging. Atlanta? Check. Chicago? Check. Phoenix? Check. UK? Check! It’s been an incredible experience and I’m very grateful for it.
Thanks for reading today. I hope you’ll join us week after week as Meranda, Lacey, and I iron out the details of our Friday Five 2.0 linkup. Next week’s theme is “free” again. Have a fantastic weekend!
