This week has been insane. Somehow. I’m not even sure how. But it’s Thursday and I could have sworn it was just Monday. I suppose I lost track of time because…
This week my little bugger started school.
I’m half glad and half sad about the start of school. I’ve been bummed about the end of summer but I’m glad to have a few hours of quiet. He’s the loudest kid I know. He’s totally awesome. But he’s opinionated (yes, that’s a great thing!), he’s smart (another good thing), and he always has something to say (all good things!). But it’s exhausting.
I’m also a creature of habit and I really enjoy routine. But there’s something to be said for being lazy and not having any plans except to hang out with our friends at the creek or the pool all summer long. I’ve really embraced the chill factor this summer, and I’m hesitant to let it go. School kinda brings the chill factor down a few notches. There’s rushing to catch the bus, rushing to make the lunches, rushing to finish homework before bedtime. Too much rushing, not enough chilling.
So yeah — I guess school is the reason this week has flown by.
In other news, and yes I’m going to keep talking about my kids for a minute so bear with me, my daughter is just adorable. Yeah I said that.
I remember making forts and playing with my dolls as a little girl.
And I made my fair share of forts with my son but he always knocked them down and trashed them as soon as they were made. But my daughter — she’s another story. She makes a fort and practically lives in it for a few days. It’s the cutest thing ever. I wish it were big enough for me to fit in with her.
I had given up stroller running in the spring.
You might remember but if you don’t, I gave up stroller running for two reasons. 1. my son was going to be home with us all summer and 2. my daughter was getting kinda heavy for me to push. Well, I’ve pushed her for many miles the last two days and I have to say, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe it’s all those push-ups I’ve been doing lately.
Speaking of push-ups — I totally kicked my own a$$ at the playground after my run the other day.
My legs are trashed. My gosh, what did I do to myself?! Stairs will be fun over the next couple days, I’m sure.
I’m getting creative with my post-run workouts. Mostly because I haven’t been doing them so I feel like I need to up the ante and get more bang for my buck. Once I start the No Excuses Bootcamp class it will help keep me in a routine.
Looking forward to a little relaxing this weekend. After my long run, of course.
