Winter holidays, bring it!!

December 3, 2015
Warning: this post has nothing to do with anything important. Read on with caution.

I wasn’t planning on buying “stuff” for my kids this year. But with Chanukah coming up next week already and Christmas right around the corner, coupled with the fact that I’m a sucker for a good sale — well, this week kinda went to the birds.

Last week I ended up purchasing a pair of shoes for my son, essentially out of guilt. My own self-induced guilt, of course. We hit up the local running store after Track Friday. They were running a promo that if you brought in a pair of shoes to donate, you’d get $25. The caveat, unfortunately, was the $25 had to be used on a pair of running shoes. I briefly glanced at their selection but there was nothing that appealed to me except for one pair, which they didn’t have in my size. (Note to self: this running store never has my size. Stop going there.) Instead of “wasting” a $25 coupon, Boo tried on the one pair they had in his size. I walked out of there with a pair of Brooks for $43. Not a bad deal. Except that they’re the wrong size, he will have to heel lock the laces when he finally grows into them, and he already has two other pairs of athletic shoes.

Needless to say, those are going back.
Then this week of course I’m armed with the “wish list” on Cyber Monday. I don’t even think I ended up buying anything on Cyber Monday except maybe a running shirt for me? A potty seat? I don’t know. Nothing that was on the list anyway. Tuesday and Wednesday were much more successful. Little Bee needed a hat and mittens and Boo needed a winter coat. I headed over to the local sporting goods store and scored both items. Score one for the good guys!

My little shopping buddy 🙂

Wednesday’s goal was to find pajamas, clothes, and slippers. LL Bean recently opened a store near us and I thought I would for sure find some awesome stuff there. Does this store carry kids stuff? No. No they don’t. Whomp whomp. Huge let down despite being such an awesome store. Little Bee and I hit up a few more places and finally, the last place we went to — Children’s Place! — had a huge selection of everything I was looking for. I should have known this in the first place. Why bother going to stores that may have their sizes and may have cute pjs when I know Children’s Place has never let me down? Rookie mistake, and I learned from it.

Mmmm Chick-Fil-A
Because we definitely need more Elsa…
The best part of Wednesday was with all the cumbersome running around, I found a nicer winter coat for less for Boo, plus picked up some Frozen paraphernalia for Little Bee. And guess what? NO TOYS!!!! This is one satisfied mama. 🙂 We also hit up Chick-Fil-A because mall. That’s all I’m gonna say about that. I may have also eaten half of a Snickers bar after we got home. To be fair, it’s been in our cabinet since Halloween so it was bound to happen.

All in all, I’d say my two days of shopping were a success. All things considered, I didn’t even end up with any “junk.” Well, except for Elsa as shown above. But other than that, I won!

Chanukah and Christmas, bring it!!

xo
