Run Santa Run 5K

December 9, 2015
I’m not much of a winter runner. I complain. I hate being cold. I’d much rather sit at home on the couch in stretch pants and a hoodie, watching movies while stuffing my face full of popcorn, candy, soup, and hot cocoa. I’m jealous of my friends who seem to enjoy running in the winter. Especially those that run all those awesome winter-wonderland themed races and then post their super-fantastic, awesome race day photos.
BUT! If I’ve learned anything from last winter’s insane marathon training, it’s that I too, can handle winter running with grace. (Okay, I made that last part up.) I’ve taken it upon myself to run the last Lake Health Running Series race of the year — Run Santa Run 5K. I need to experience the super-fantastic-ism of running a winter, themed race, too! (We’ll ignore the fact that I ran one once and really didn’t like it. But we’ll also blame the weather… It was freeeeeezing!)
Now here’s the thing. This has been a very atypical winter for us up here in good ol’ Cleve-burg. It snowed once and it all melted by the next morning. Usually by now we’re buried in feet of snow. Or at least it’s cold. Like in the low 30s. I’m thanking my lucky stars that we don’t have feet of snow right now, and while it’s been pretty chilly in the mornings, it’s been a pleasantly cool end of fall/beginning of winter overall. Not so cold that you’re uncomfortable, but cool enough that you definitely need a coat. I didn’t curse at life while I waited for the Turkey Trot to begin this year, so I’m hoping I’m lucky enough not to endure blowing sleet, snow, and freezing rain for Run Santa Run, too.
Weather aside, I’m stoked for Run Santa Run for three main reasons:
1. One of my virtual clients is coming up for the run, which means I get to meet her in person! She’s also a virtual friend that I’ve known for a few years now. I love meeting people in person! It’s great to put a voice to a face and name. Plus one of my other athletes will be racing, too! Such a fun day.
2. I get to wear my INKnBURN tech sweater again!
3. SANTA WILL BE THERE!!!
And the swag for this race is fabulous…

  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Santa hat (!!!)
  • Hot chocolate
  • Pint glass
  • Christmas ale (!!!)

Why am I so darn excited to see Santa, get a Santa hat, and drink Christmas Ale? Because why the heck not?! I’m Jewish! It makes sense! (??!!)
If you’re in the Cleveland area and don’t have plans on the morning of December 13, I highly suggest you head out to Burger Fi for Run Santa Run 5K. It will be a fan-freakin-tastic morning. Plus, Santa. And rumor has it he’s totally awesome.
Check it out – -here’s your last chance to register. BE THERE!

Oh, one more awesome thing about this race. If you bring your bib in to Second Sole Mentor, you get 20% off your purchase. That’s a pretty sweet deal, and the people that work there are amazing and awesome.
I hope to see many familiar faces out there on race day! If you’re planning on being at Run Santa Run 5K, let’s meet up! Look for a planned meeting spot and time on Instagram later this week.
Happy Chanukah!
