My 5 Dream Vacation Destinations {Friday Five}

December 4, 2015

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a vacation. Years, really. I used to conceptualize all these amazing vacation ideas for my husband and me, but after we took our son to Disney in 2013, it felt like my vacation quota was fulfilled. I’ve stopped daydreaming as often as I used to. Having said that, however, it’s cloudy, cold, and generally icky out today so with today’s post, I’m gonna kickstart my daydreaming once again!

In no particular order, here are my top five dream vacation destinations:

My 5 Dream Vacation Destinations

1. Disney World

If you haven’t been to Disney World, you’re missing out. It truly is the most magical place on earth. And if you have been there, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. I have amazing memories of Disney World as a kid, and going as an adult was just as much of a treat. Disney does an incredible job at turning their theme park into what can only be described as magic. Everything from the food to the color schemes to the indescribable rides, theatrics, and animatronics. There are no words. (There’s a reason so many people go crazy for the Disney races…) I can’t wait to take my daughter in a year or two.

2. Turks and Caicos

I know very little about the Turks and Caicos Islands. What I do know is that when my husband and I were researching honeymoon destinations, this one kept cropping up in the lists. We eventually chose Jamaica and had a fantastic time, but Turks and Caicos will always be on my destination list.

3. Fiji

Another place we were briefly researching for our honeymoon was Fiji. I would still love to go to Fiji one day so it’s definitely at the top of the dream vacation list. We might even treat ourselves to a private jet for part of the trip. It’s actually not as expensive as you think if you book empty leg flights, meaning you get all the luxury of a private jet at a fraction of the price!

4. Mt. Everest

Yeah that’s right. I said it. Mt. Everest. If you know me at all, you’ll know why this desolate landscape appeals to me. If I were in the financial position to traverse Mt. Everest, I would sign up in a heartbeat. Well, after months and years of training, of course. Mt. Everest is the creme de la creme of outdoor adventures. Sign me up, puh-lease!

Never, ever, ever, ever, rest, rest, rest…
5. Alaska

Alaska, much like Mt. Everest, has been a dream destination of mine for as long as I can remember. The vast, untouched landscape. The amazing wildlife. The aurora borealis! Alaska has so much to offer. Now, would I live there? Probably not. I’m already sensitive enough to the change of light in northeast Ohio. I’m not sure I would fare well in a location where it’s dark for 6 months and light for the other 6. But two weeks to a month? I’m in.

My dream vacation list is nothing short of diverse and opposite. On the one hand, I love man-made wonders, art, and creativity as exhibited at Disney World. On the other, I much prefer nature, solitude, and beauty as shown by my intrigue with the rest of the list. But again, the natural locations vary just as much in terms of climate and geography. Suffice it to say, it’s a mixed bag but those are all destinations I dream of.
