Holiday Wish List: I Want to #BuyAllTheThings! [Friday Five]

December 11, 2015

Cynthia, Mar and Courtney just had to choose “Holiday Wish List” as the topic for this week’s Friday Five linkup. I mean, for real? Come on, ladies! You know us runners want to #buyallthethings! It hardly seems fair! I’ll try to whittle it down. What I truly wish for this year…

1. A medal/bib holder.

I’ve been looking for a medal/bib holder for a really long time. But I haven’t found the right one. I recently discovered that Etsy has tons of them, so I started emailing some to my husband. You know, all “hint, hint” style. Very subtle.

2. A new GPS watch. One with SOS tracking.

From the limited research I’ve done on this, there doesn’t seem to be a halfway decent GPS watch with an SOS feature. Ok wait, there is one, actually. The Timex One GPS+. Which is actually a pretty cool watch. But why aren’t there more? It seems like every time I read about the latest and greatest SOS-capable watch, it’s a flop and next thing I know, the website is down. Why is it so hard to develop a halfway decent, reputable GPS watch with SOS capabilities? There are some days I’d really rather not run with my phone. It’s huge and annoying. But I run with it for safety. Garmin, I’m looking at you…

3. Windproof running tights.

Thank god it’s been a mild winter and nothing like it was last year. Last year is when windproof running tights officially made it on my wish list. They’re still on my list, just with less urgency this year.

4. Running capris that fit.

Seriously. Why can’t a girl find a pair of running capris that fit?! I’ve tried on ten million pairs, I swear. I’ve bought two and returned both. I just can’t take it anymore! I don’t want to break the bank on new running capris since my wear-time on them is usually limited to about a month in the fall just before it turns crispy cold. Again, this year is different. Windproof tights — not so urgent. Capris? They just took a step up on the urgency ladder.

5. 3 pairs of shoes.

3 pairs? Arbitrary number. But I would like a pair of racing/training flats for track days, uber cushioned shoes for long run days, and a pair of every day trainers for my mid-distance runs. Totally not excessive. I promise.

Look at all the pretty colors! NO! That’s not why I buy so many running shoes!!!…

There are so many other things I could add to this list. Really, I want #allthethings. But I’ll be good and leave my list as it is. And then I’ll send this post to my husband. And mom. And my dad, too.

Bahaha!

Have a great weekend! I’ll catch you back here on Monday!

xo

What’s on YOUR holiday wish list?

Racing this weekend? How far? I’m racing a 5K on Sunday! Wahoo!
