Product Review: TKO Jump Rope

November 11, 2015
Hellooooo!!! La, la, la…

Today I have an awesome review for you. It’s awesome because it’s a guest review and it’s one of my favorite pieces of workout equipment. Enter… my husband and the jump rope!
This post is sponsored by TKO. As always, all thoughts, opinions, and reviews are my own. But in this case, they’re not. They’re my husband’s…
Prior to becoming injured, I had signed up to review the fitness rope by TKO. Unfortunately sh*t happens and dealing with my stress reaction has made it impossible to review said rope. Lucky for me, my husband (a fellow fitness addict… maybe less so than me) stepped up to the plate and took on the product test and review. You’ll notice in the photos below that he definitely chose to review the pink rope. Definitely. (But I’d like to add the TKO rope does come in a variety of other colors. My husband just chose pink because it’s so awesome.) So without further ado, here he is:
TKO Jump Rope Review
by Brandon
At first glance:  It is very lightweight and came out of the box folded in six-inch
sections. The rope is made of a flexible yet
somewhat rigid vinyl; the folds combined with the rigidity made me slightly nervous for my first workout with
the rope not being straight. I hung it over a door for a few days in an attempt
to remove the kinks prior to testing.

In Action: To my surprise the rope
went perfectly straight  once my workout began and it was very easy to jump. As I previously mentioned, it’s very
lightweight which makes it well suited for speed work. According to TKO’s site the ropes have ball
bearings in the handles. This explains the speed/fluidity of its motion. Most
surprising of all to me was that the rope was plenty long (specs say nine
feet!). I am 6’4” and have never comfortably jumped rope since I was a very
young child.
Overall: This is a great rope and I will certainly
incorporate it into my warm-ups and as a great source of low impact cardio
activity. I can honestly say I
would recommend this to a friend or fellow fitness advocate for the price ($30
MSRP). The TKO rope far exceeds any performance of any jump rope I’ve used (or
attempted but failed due to lacking length) in recent memory.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Portable
  • Perfect length for me (which is rare)
Cons:
  • Handles were not as grippy as I’d like
  • Durability of vinyl rope

Thanks to my awesome husband for stepping up and reviewing the TKO jump rope. I can’t wait to be able to jump rope again. It’s one of my favorite activities! And it’s such an awesome workout and a great complement to other cross training. If you haven’t tried jumping rope before, I highly encourage it!
