5 Simple Steps to Participate in the Track Friday Movement [Friday Five]

November 20, 2015
So you’ve decided you’re interested in participating in Track Friday, eh? Great! I’m so glad you’re joining me and the hundreds of others planning to make a difference, too.
You may have some questions about how Track Friday works exactly. I’ve mentioned how you can make a big impact by participating in Track Friday and I’ve also posted a list of frequently asked questions that I’ve received since announcing my participation in Track Friday. Today I’m giving you a step by step, easy to follow and understand, instruction list of how Track Friday works specifically in regard to your participation.
By following these five simple steps, you’ll be on your way to making a difference in no time!

5 Simple Steps to Participate in the Track Friday Movement
1. Decide if you’re going to fundraise or simply donate to an existing fundraiser.
2. Go to Razoo. Start fundraising or find the charity you’re going to donate to and make your contribution. If you’re fundraising, see “2a.” If you’re not, skip to “3.”

2a. Ask your friends and family, fellow runners/walkers to contribute to your cause.

3. Find a meetup near you. If there isn’t one nearby, you can either start your own or log your own miles.

4. Show up at the track or meetup site. Be sure to take lots of photos (selfies if you’re running on your own). Run with friends, burn off those extra Turkey Day calories, and have fun!

Track Friday, here we come!

5. Upload photos to social media using the tags #TrackFriday — and if you’re local to Cleveland — #runCLE and #WeRunCLE.

That’s it! Easy peasy! Now you have zero excuses. You know what Track Friday’s all about, all your questions have been answered about why it’s important, and now you have a step-by-step guide to successful participation. And if you have an excuse like, “I’ll be out of town,” or “I’m going to sleep in on Friday,” — or my favorite one… “I have to work on Friday!” Well, frankly, those aren’t gonna work. If you have to work on Friday, log your miles like you would any other workday — just use the hashtags to be tracked. And if you’re out of town? Find a meetup nearby, or participate in your local meetup virtually — like my friend Noemi and her husband! They’re traveling to see family for the holiday but they’re ready to join in the Track Friday movement from afar.

If you’re local to Cleveland (or hey, maybe you’re visiting your family in Cleveland!) and would like to meet up for our Track Friday meetup, join us at the Orange High School track at 9:00 am. Run (or walk) as long or as short as you’d like. I think I’m gonna aim for 3 miles on the track. Hopefully I’ll see you there!

Do you stay local or travel for Thanksgiving?
Who’s in for Track Friday??
