Bridge2Bridge Half Marathon + 5K

October 15, 2015
I’m excited to talk to you about my upcoming half marathon today. It’s one of my area’s best-kept secrets. It’s small (win!) and in a gorgeous part of northeast Ohio. The race I’m referring to is the Bridge2Bridge Half Marathon and 5K.
The Bridge2Bridge Half Marathon and 5K race will be held on October 24, 2015 in Ashtabula, Ohio. Now in it’s 6th year, Bridge2Bridge receives a lot of support from the local community business, organizations, and individuals. In 2014, the race allowed the Ashtabula Distance Runners Club to provide scholarship opportunities to track and cross country athletes moving on to college. It’s a top notch race with a lot of perks. The awards are fantastic, too.
The course itself winds through the harbor neighborhoods, to the historic Ashtabula Harbor on Bridge Street, crosses the lift bridge, and heads out to the Smolen-Gulf Bridge (the longest covered bridge in the United States!). Plus, it finishes with a warm post-race meal provided by Bascule Bridge Grille. There will also be a DJ with pre- and post-race entertainment.
Combine the awesome course, great race atmosphere, finisher medals, awards, and community support AND an inexpensive entry fee — and you’ve got a recipe for a fantastic race!
Now, I worry a bit that I won’t be able to run the race, but I’m hopeful. I’m keeping my chin up and focusing on other exercises so I don’t lose all fitness. But, worst case scenario and I can’t compete? I’ll be there cheering for my friends with bells on. I’m really looking forward to Bridge2Bridge — racing or not. It will be an amazing day!
If you don’t have any plans for the morning of October 24th, come on out to Bridge2Bridge for either the half marathon or 5K. I look forward to seeing you then!
P.S. Click here to register. 🙂
