Today’s post is brought to you by the letter P and the number 6.*
Oh, Sesame Street. You bring back such memories…
My son is graduating from pre-k today. Isn’t it strange how there’s pre-k graduation these days? When I was a kid, you graduated from high school. Am I dating myself? I mean, graduation from pre-k is pretty rad, don’t get me wrong. Just seems excessive. I’m so happy for him though. And oddly sad about it.
I don’t think I’m sad that he’s growing up. I think I’m more sad that I won’t see the teachers and moms that I’ve come to know over the last three years on a daily basis. And the kids! They’re so cute and I love them. It’s the end of an era! We still aren’t entirely sure where Boo will be going to school next year. There’s a good chance he’ll be with two of his friends from pre-k but there’s no guarantee. And elementary school is much bigger than preschool. So it’s not like it will have a family-like atmosphere there.
I keep asking Boo if he’s sad or happy about school being over and graduating from pre-k. He’s totally pumped. He’s mentioned a couple times that he’s sad he won’t see his friends over the summer. I don’t think he fully understands that he’s not going back to school there in the fall. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. But so far he’s really excited for summer break. I must say — I am, too.
Ready for the first day of Pre-K! My, how time flies. |
I kinda miss preschool myself. Because coloring. Am I right? (You know I’m right.) And blocks. Remember those awesome wooden blocks? Yeah, they still have ’em. And they’re still awesome. And finger painting!
I totally built this when I was in preschool! Not. |
So yeah, I may be a little sad that my son’s graduating pre-k. I’m gonna miss it! Especially the awesome teachers. But I’m looking forward to his new adventure in kindergarten. I met my lifelong best friend in kindergarten and she’s still my best friend to this day. Maybe he’ll meet his lifelong best buddy in kindergarten as well! Who knows what the future holds.
Last of school! Kindergarten or bust! |
This guy is as silly as me. 🙂 |
Thanks for reading. And don’t forget — today’s post was brought to you by the letter P and the number 6!
Happy graduation day, Boo! Mama loves you. xo (Totally embarrassing, right?)
*If you’re wondering if there’s significance for the letter and number of the day, there is. P is for pre-k. And 6 is for my son who will be 6 when he goes to kindergarten. 🙂
