I was recently contacted by a group to give a shout out for an upcoming trail race, which of course I will happily oblige. Because let’s face it, this race is very near and dear to my heart. The race is called the Race N’ Taste 5K Trail Run/Walk. It’s being held at The Hiram House Camp in Moreland Hills, Ohio on July 25, 2015.
I’m looking forward to Race N’ Taste for so many reasons. Not only have I known the family that runs Hiram House for as long as I can remember (and they are among my favorite people on the planet), HHC puts on amazing events time and again. Another of their fabulous events is the annual Pumpkin Festival.
The most amazing part of all of this is not the running, not the family-fun at the Pumpkin Festival, but that all of the proceeds from events at Hiram House Camp go directly to the Campership Fund. The campership fund makes it possible for children in need to attend, and benefit from, a summer at camp. As I’ve said before, going to camp was a life-changing experience. (You can read those posts here and here.) There’s no doubt in my mind that my life would be considerably different without my camp experience. The impact of this experience on my life — and anyone’s life — is nothing short of incredible.
The Hiram House Camp Campership Fund helps as many kids get these amazing, life-changing experiences as possible. With your support over the years for these festive and fun events at HHC, you’re helping as many kids gain this invaluable experience as possible.
Here’s the nitty gritty of the event:
Registration for Race N’ Taste ranges from $10-30, depending on what you’re doing. The full event details and registration info can be found here. You don’t have to run or walk to come to this fun event! You can come spectate, cheer on the athletes, and sample the deliciousness that awaits! Area restaurants will be present at the end of the 5K trail run with samplings of their best dishes. Be sure to check out all that the Race N’ Taste has to offer!
For me, Race N’ Taste will be a fun way to see camp from a different perspective. I’ve spent many hours (days? years?) on the HHC property, and I know it almost inside and out, but running in the same place you are used to walking, playing, or star-gazing is quite a different experience!
If you’re local, be sure to mark your calendar for July 25, 2015. And if you’re not local, perhaps you should consider making a trip to CLE to check out what is sure to be an incredible event! It will be a great way to support a phenomenal organization and fund. Plus in mid-July the weather should be perfect for a nice trail run.
Hope to see you there!!!
