Recipe Monday: Valentine’s Day Blonde Puppy Chow

February 9, 2015
Happy Monday! We are just shy of one week until Valentine’s Day. I’m not entirely sure why I love holidays so much. They’re just so fun. I love holiday themed socks. Unfortunately my Val Day socks have seen better days so they’re no longer in the rotation. I think I actually threw them away last year.

That’s neither here nor there.

Today I’m linking up with Annmarie and Cassandra for a special edition of #MeatlessMonday. Mostly special because this is another dessert recipe! I made this last year for a recipe swap meetup I went to. It was so good, and super easy. Unfortunately I can’t find my photo and I haven’t made it yet this year, so you’ll just have to take my word on it’s deliciousness. I mean really, can you go wrong with melted peanut butter, butter, and brown sugar? Methinks not. So check out this super easy recipe, make it for friends and family in your life, and share the Val Day love even if you don’t love the holiday itself — no grinches here!
Valentine’s Day Blonde Puppy Chow
Ingredients

  • 1/2 C crunchy peanut butter
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 9 C Rice Crispix (or Chex)
  • 1 1/2 C powdered sugar
(add holiday themed M&Ms if desired)

Directions
Melt peanut butter, butter, and brown sugar together in the microwave or using a double boiler. Combine melted mixture and Crispix and stir gently until coated. Pour the mix into a brown paper bag, add powdered sugar, and shake until coated. Add M&Ms at the end.
Tip: Divvy up into festive individual bags for kids to pass out as classroom treats.
Enjoy!
Happy Valentine’s Day week!
xo
