January Challenge: Planks, Push-Ups, Burpees

January 2, 2015
We took our Christmas tree down and stored away all of our Christmas and Chanukah decorations until next year. I’m secretly ecstatic to have my life back. As much I totally love decorating for the holidays, after about a week I’m done. There’s too much “stuff.” Baby girl woke up from her nap and said, “uh oh” about 80 times due to the absence of the tree and stockings. Adorable.
Now that the holidays are officially past us, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’ve been doing another plank challenge. While I was vehemently trying to meet my mileage goal for 2014 after coming down with influenza, I pushed all other fitness to the wayside. I didn’t lift, I didn’t squat, I didn’t plank. To my dismay, my physique has become saggy where it was once firm, and squishy where it was once toned. Not that I was ripped before — far from it. But instead of an entire mom pouch on my abdomen, I had a four pack to show for all my hard work plus the mom pouch. Now I just have the mom pouch.
Here’s the nitty gritty of the challenge. I’m changing it up a bit this month. I fondly named this challenge the PPB Challenge. Planks, push-ups and burpees.

Instead of focusing solely on one exercise, I’m going to rotate between the three. I hate burpees and I dropped the ball with the burpee challenge. Complete and utter failure. But I believe if I’m challenging myself to do less over time, I’ll do them more efficiently and effectively.
Will you join me? Check out the calendar below. We’ve only missed one day so it will be easy to make up if you feel like you need to.

A few things to note: we will be adding very few of each activity. However, all of these exercises combined will be phenomenal for our core, arms, and quads. If you ever feel the need to slow down or skip a day, please do so. There is only one rest day for every six days of activity. Seems like a lot of working out but it will be amazing — trust me!
Look good to you? Great! Here we go!
Happy weekend!

Yes! Love this challenge- I am all about burpees and pushups and while I like planks I don't do them enough!

Funny you say you're all about burpees because they are my least favorite activity. Ever. 😉

I love this challenge!! I have been feeling the same with losing some of my tone and I was just thinking that I should do some pushups today 🙂 I am going to join you in this challenge! I totally hate burpees but it's always good to get out of your comfort zone! Let's do this!

This is a great challenge. I never could finish any of the other challenges because they were only 1 exercise (except for running). Good Idea mixing it up! Burpees are my least favorite but I know they are probably one of the best for me! My favorite snack has got to be cupcakes (I know, unhealthy so I have only 1 occasionally) and my longest distance is 26.2 miles. 🙂

You're a seasoned marathoner! That's great. I'll be running my first this May!
