Playdates and Cheesecakes

December 24, 2014
My legs are tired, my body’s tired, my brain is fried… all in a day’s work, my friends. That’s right, we had more adventuring and baking! Cheesecake will be decorated as presents shortly. If you don’t see pictures here, it’s because it was a complete and utter failure. If you do see photos, it’s because they turned out all right. No promises. Wish me luck.
Here are some pics of me pre-run the past two mornings. On Monday, the temperature was “feels like 18˚.” On Tuesday, it was “feels like 31˚.” My, oh my, what a huge difference 13-degrees makes!
Bundled and tired. 🙂

Less bundled but still tired.
And here are some shots from our Natural History museum fun with friends!
How the heck they all stayed there, I’ll never know…

Cheese! Waiting for the planetarium show!
In other news, I made a deal with my friend on our run Tuesday morning. I’m not quite ready to share the official news yet, but it did have something to do with a marathon… I’ll just leave it at that for now.

On to Christmas-chatter! Because I’m no longer allowed to enjoy a movie and Chinese food on Christmas, as is the tradition for most Jews I know, we are having Chinese food on Christmas Eve. Whoop whoop! Christmas day will be traditional fare. Ham, green beans, potatoes of sorts, rolls — and I’m even going to sneak in some cranberry sauce. Yum! Dessert will consist of the remaining baked goods I have stored in tupperwares throughout my kitchen.

Christmas Eve will be fun. I got the kids Christmas pajamas (not really Christmas-themed at all, actually) and an ornament. I wrapped them in a box and after dinner they’ll get to open their first official gifts of Christmas. A teaser if you will. Then we’ll read The Night Before Christmas together before bed. This is the second year I’ve done this and it was a big hit last year. I can’t wait for them to see their pjs. They’re so darn cute, if I do say so myself! After the little people are in bed, I’ll pre-assemble my “sleep late french toast” to pop in the oven on Christmas morning, my husband and I will put out all the remaining gifts, and off to bed we’ll go! Should be chaotic and fun.

My cousin is joining us for Christmas dinner. Which will be funny because he’s Jewish, too. Good times, good times! At least someone will be there to help us eat all the cookies… nom, nom, nom.

I hope you have a phenomenal holiday with family and friends. And if you’re a Jew on Christmas, please make sure you catch a flick and eat some Chinese food — and be sure to channel my blog so I can partake in spirit. 😉

Are you excited for Christmas Eve and Christmas?
What are your plans?

If you have kids, have they started asking about Santa? How to you field those questions?

Happy day!
