Fitness Friday: Esther

November 21, 2014
Less than a week until Thanksgiving! Can you believe it? I certainly can’t. Where the heck has this year gone?!
Today I’m lucky to feature Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl. She’s a force to reckon with, and she’s got a great attitude and an incredible spirit. Read on to hear more from Esther!

What is your favorite fitness day/activity?

Lately I
have really been loving a mix of body pump and piyo. It breaks up my running
routine and keeps my body guessing what is coming!

What is your favorite fitness routine?
In body
pump, the back track! Clean and presses are my favorite!

Why do you choose to stay fit?
I know it
is important for my health! I went through a time when I was not allowed to
really workout for almost 2 years!! It really reminded me to be thankful for
what I have, and to take care of myself the best I can!

Aside from physical exercise, what other ways
do you incorporate healthy choices into your life?

I am a big
fan of water, a healthy mix of quality food with the balance of treats once in
a while too! I am also a fan of sleep and I have been working really hard to
log more hours!

How have you dealt with any setbacks that have prevented you from working out, staying in
shape, or eating healthily?
Well, I had
an eating disorder for over 20 years, and that definitely kept me unhealthy. I am
happy to say I have been in recovery and eating properly for the past 6.5
years!

Also in college I broke my foot. It never healed right (cause of the eating
disorder), so I had to have surgery. A LONG 2 year process.

What advice do you have for someone just
beginning their journey into healthy living and/or exercising?

Find
something you love for exercise. Try new things if you need to.

Find someone to join you if possible! Going together can be less intimidating
and more motivating!

Pick 1 or 2 things to focus on. Once you have mastered them, pick 1 or 2 more.
(i.e, drinking more water, working out 3 times a week, pick a new class to try,
sign up for a race, make a new healthy recipe)
