Timex ONE Relay

September 18, 2014
I log my road miles using CharityMiles. If you haven’t heard of CharityMiles, it’s a great app that allows you to log miles and in doing so, any given brand, company, or corporation will donate money for the miles you logged. For every mile I run, 25¢ is donated to whichever charity I choose for that run. It doesn’t seem like a lot of money, but it’s pretty cool if you think about it. The more you use the app, the more miles you log, the more money goes to the charity you specify.
About a month ago I received an email about this exciting opportunity to run for the Timex ONE Relay. What is the Timex ONE Relay? It’s a month long relay. The miles run move from city to city, starting in Chicago and ending in NYC. It’s an 800-mile relay!
How are CharityMiles and the Timex ONE Relay related? Remember those brands I mentioned up there / / / that donate money in support of miles logged? Timex will be donating to some of the great charities represented on CharityMiles — up to $100 per mile. That’s amazing.
I was very excited when I received the email with the application form. I quickly filled it out and hoped for the best. I received an email yesterday saying applications were being reviewed and I would hear back within a week.
Today I was notified that I had been chosen to be a relay runner! I’m ecstatic. I will be running four or five miles-ish at a yet-to-be-determined location. Aside from running my first half marathon, I think this will be one of the greatest running experiences in my life thus far. I don’t even care if it’s raining, or if I have a difficult portion of the run. I’m honored to be a part of this, and I can’t wait to run for a good cause.
I’ll keep you posted on the exact date and time of my run, but in the meantime, please follow the Timex Sports Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram channels. All ONE Relay runners will be profiled in these places. Whoop!
And if you don’t use CharityMiles already, I highly recommend it. It’s great, and easy-to-use. And really, why not use it if you’re going to run anyway, right?
Happy Running!!
