I had an infinitely better run today than I have all week.

August 28, 2014
I had an infinitely better run today than I have all week. I’m so glad. I was a little worried, to be honest. Last night we finally made it to the last show of a local summer concert series, and Boo was running around and having fun. Apparently he was quite thirsty. When we got home, he chugged a cup full of water despite my warning that he may have an accident in his bed (yes, we still have those occasionally). Lo and behold, Boo comes in our room at 2:40 am and says, “Daddy, I have bad news…” Uh oh! We sprang to action, and thankfully there was no pee on his sheets and only a tiny bit on his comforter. We gave him a new blanket and went back to bed.
Before I got back into bed, however, I went to use the restroom myself. As I was sleepily gazing out the window, I saw a flash that appeared to be like lightning, though it wasn’t lightning out nor was there an imminent storm in the vicinity.
No sooner did I see the flash that my over-active imagination switch on with fervor. For the next hour, I lay in bed conjuring up the most ridiculous scenarios in my head. I even had my husband up with me because I was in such a state. I was convinced someone was casing the neighborhood and taking pictures of homes with a camera and flash. My husband told me that was ridiculous because the would-be criminal would be garnering unnecessary attention with the flash.
Duh.
I finally fell asleep. I don’t even know what time. I was supposed to wake up bright and early and run my 3 miles and do some strength conditioning. Ultimately I didn’t wake up too much later than I should have, but I opted for the treadmill instead of the streets. Turns out I made the wrong choice because .4 miles in I accidentally bumped the safety key and it shut off. Argh. So out on the roads I went! I ran with my neighbor for about a block, which was a pleasant surprise. Then he took off (he’s twice as fast as my fast friend!). I tried to keep him in my sightline for as long as I could and I kept up pretty well, but I turned so I could make a loop to come home.
As soon as I got home I did some weights, lunges, and squats, and I fear my quads will be sore to heck later. Should be fun walking up and down the stairs. I’ll let you know how that goes.

I had a great run. Much needed. I’m glad I had a chance to shake off the last three.

For the rest of the day I have no plans. And I’m so excited.
Sneak peek for an upcoming book review. Ready?
Can I tell you how excited I am for this opportunity? I briefly skimmed it last night and there are so many amazing recipes — I can’t wait to try some and share a couple with you. Stay tuned. Review will be coming soon.
Before I go, I also want to tell you about a pretty decent deal from FlipBelt. As a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I have access to some pretty awesome deals at times. This go is for 10% off your FlipBelt purchase. Use code sweat33 at checkout.
That’s all from here for today. How about you? Got any big plans for the weekend? Have a great day!
