Product Review: Just Tomatoes, Etc.!

July 23, 2014
Today was a good day — so far. I had a track date with my friend, Julie! We are both training for a half marathon and following the same plan, so it works out great. Today we worked on 5x400s. Basically 5x400s means you run at 5K pace (or faster I suppose) for 400 meters (once around the track) and lightly jog for 200-400 m for recovery. It was really fun. I forgot how awesome and springy the track feels. Although I recall the track being nothing but asphalt back in my day. Now it’s rubbery and bouncy. So fun!

First track workout selfie! Whoop!
Today’s review is slightly un-running related. But it’s great nonetheless. Today I bring you Just Tomatoes, Etc.! Just Tomatoes, Etc.! is this awesome company that specializes in freeze dried fruits and veggies. My favorite thing about them is how convenient the pouches are, especially for on-the-go snacking. As a mama, this is critical to any successful outing with children.
Just Tomatoes, Etc.! comes in a variety of flavors. Strawberries, bananas, fruit munchies, cherries, corn, — the list goes on. Check them all out here.  Some of our favorites are peas, corn, strawberries & bananas, strawberries, bananas, and fruit munchies.
A sampling of the Just Tomatoes, Etc.! goodness
What I love the most about these tiny morsels of freeze dried fruit and vegetable goodness, aside from being very portable, is that they are literally just the fruit or just the veggie. Hence the name “Just Tomatoes.” Not only do I feel great eating them myself, but I don’t worry about what my kids are ingesting. Of particular interest to parents of small children (the 1 year-ish crowd) is how easily babies without teeth can mash up the pieces and eat them without choking. I have found in my time that the snacks or yogurt drops or whatever’s that are made specifically for babies and toddlers just learning how to eat are actually quite dangerous. Both of my children would eat the puffs and they would become so dense and compact they would end up blocking their airway. Baby food fail.
Just Tomatoes? No eating problems.
The other thing I adore about Just Tomatoes snacks are that I can trick my kids into eating veggies. Not that they need to be tricked because they oddly enough do love their veggies, but when it’s snacktime, they think eating freeze dried corn or freeze dried peas are a treat. It’s glorious!
So bottom line — would I recommend Just Tomatoes, Etc.! snacks to a friend, parent, or family member? Absolutely.
I hope you check out this company. They have a great story and a terrific product. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Have a great day!!
