Product Review: G.H. Cretors Chicago Mix

July 16, 2014
Great news! My giveaway for Lunatik Athletiks compression socks has ended and a winner has been chosen! Drum roll please… Sara Z., you are the winner of the Hot Rockin’ Dots socks! I know you will love them. 🙂
Here’s a picture of one of the many beautiful sunflowers my son is growing in our backyard. Albeit a random photo, it is too gorgeous not to share with the world. Enjoy. 🙂
Today’s review is sponsored by G.H. Cretors. I am honored to have been chosen to receive their tasty little morsels in a bag — otherwise known as Chicago Mix — to taste test for review!
Happiness in a bag? Some may say… YES.
A little bit about G.H. Cretors before I continue [excerpted]:
In 1885, Claire Cretors’ great grandfather invented a machine that forever changed snacking: The commercial popcorn machine. 126 years later, his great granddaughter is writing the next chapter for the Cretors family. This time, with the popcorn itself.

Made with all-natural ingredients completely free of GMO’s, artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives, G.H. Cretors’ signature Chicago Mix combines caramel corn and cheese corn in the same bag, offering addictive, simultaneous hits of sweet, salty, crunchy and cheesy. The caramel corn is made the old fashioned way: by hand, in copper kettles. Cane sugar, brown rice syrup (a non-GMO alternative to corn syrup with a lower glycemic impact) and real butter is heated over a flame and then stirred slowly by hand to develop its rich complex flavor and crunch.

G.H. Cretors is women-owned and operated by the mother-daughter team of Claire and Phyllis Cretors in Waukegan, Illinois. This is not far from Chicago where another branch of the Cretors family still makes commercial popping machines invented by Claire’s great grandfather in 1885.

When I first received the box of Chicago Mix, I was outside playing with my kids. I couldn’t even wait to get it inside the house. It couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect time. I was just about to head inside and grab some snacks for everyone. Instead, I opened the box and we tore open two bags, which were quickly devoured by my brood (and me)!
All I can say is yes, this bag absolutely offers addictive hits of sweet and salty. Oh. My. Gawd. Mmmm. Mmmm. Good… I’m a major food snob. So even if you don’t know me personally, you can rest assured that this is indeed a phenomenal snack.
Morsels of caramel and cheese corn. Mixed together. Perfection.

So here’s what I love: I love that this is a women-owned operation. I love that this popcorn is insanely delicious. I love that it’s not a bunch of chemicals in a bag. G.H. Cretors products are gluten-free, non-GMO, and kosher. And they have an organic line, too!

What do I not love? I don’t love the calorie count per bag (210) because it’s so addicting that I can’t just eat a couple pieces at a time. But that’s my problem, not yours. Self-control and food should not be in the same sentence when referring to me. 😉

Bottom line — would I recommend this to family and friends? Heck yes! Will I buy it next time I’m at the grocery? Indeed, I will!

Thank you to G.H. Cretors for sponsoring this review. I’m so happy I was chosen to take part. And my mouth and tummy are happy, too. 🙂

I highly recommend getting a bag of this next time you’re in the grocery. It’s so, so good. Happy Hump Day and happy snacking!
