Happy Friday, loves! Today we get to hear from Jeremy from Confessions of an Amateur Athlete. This guy is amazing. Truly. He just ran Ragnar at Snowmass, and he seriously gave me the fever to attempt a Ragnar myself!
And you know the only prescription for a fever, right? More COWBELL! (I’m not sure if Jeremy heard many cowbells in Snowmass, but they do happen to be my favorite sound out on the road while racing.) (And thanks for indulging my need to include this cowbell snippet.)
Note: Jeremy submitted this post before completing Ragnar.
Without any more silly commentary from me, here’s Jeremy!

Jeremy here! Thanks for featuring me!
What are you training for?
I’m currently training for Ragnar Trail-Snowmass. I leave in three days! Alongside the Ragnar training, I’m working towards the San Francisco Marathon at the end of July as well. Two super exciting events!!
How do you balance your training with family time? Work Time?
I’m always happiest AFTER my run. So I try to knock that out before family time or before work. This way I’m less cranky, just more hungry. And being hungry is a great excuse to go out with friends/family/coworkers and chat over some grub! On the weekends, I’ll run WITH friends, to socialize. Then it’s family time and relaxing after that. I believe it’s a healthy balance that keeps all parties sane.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My pup! Lol. But serioulsy, she’s always eager to hit the trails with me and she loves to run! She and my partner are always on the sidelines cheering me on when they can, and waiting for me at the finish line!
Also, I have a great group of friends and we all like to run races together. Have a friend or two running a race with you, even if they aren’t running alongside you, it’s still a great motivator!
Finding a balance between your running and your everyday life can be tough. But once you fall into a routine, it will become so easy you won’t even think about it! And you’ll find getting a run in won’t necessarily leave you tired all the time. Instead, it’ll give you the energy and endorphins you need to tackle your every day tasks, and enjoy time with your family. And maybe you’ll be able to convince some family members to join you and get active!
Thanks again to Rachel for including me, and thank YOU for reading! Stop by my blog anytime and Happy Running!
