Product Review: Bondi Band!

June 11, 2014
I’m really excited for today’s review. I’ve actually been on the hunt for a halfway decent running headband for several months now, and my prayers have finally been answered! Enter… Bondi Band!

Before I begin, I will tell you that I was given the opportunity to review the Bondi Band free of charge. This review is my own.
I’ve tried to purchase a few different headbands at a local sporting goods store and ended up with one I really don’t love. It’s a little tight, and because it’s thicker I have to wear it over my ears. I have my cartilage pierced in one ear, and since the headband is tight, it causes my earring to dig into my ear and ends up hurting at the end of wear. Suffice it to say, I rarely wear that headband. The only other headband I currently own is one of those cotton fashion headbands. And it’s not even fashionable. I only wear it for running. It’s super comfy but it’s not cute, and it’s not tech-wear. When I was presented with the opportunity to try out an actual running headband, I jumped at the chance! And boy am I glad I did.
Bondi Band has a TON… no joke, literally a TON… of options to choose from. That’s the downside. It’s nice to have options but sometimes as a consumer, particularly when shopping online, it tends to get overwhelming.

Thankfully, mine was chosen for me! I had the pleasure of reviewing a black “13.1” BondiBand. When I opened my package, I was pumped. I tried it on straight away, and was excited to wear it on my run the next morning. I know most runners feel this way: new shoes, new clothes, new headbands, new water bottles –pretty much anything new and running related — deserves an entire blog post and an immediate test drive. This was no exception!

What I noticed right off the bat was how comfortably the Bondi Band fit on my head, and didn’t restrict my ears at all (see above). I also felt a little bit like a badass. Because, well, 13.1.

Here’s a before shot (yes, from my bathroom), and an after shot (yes, sweaty face and all) showing off my new 13.1 Bondi Band.

Bondi Band, what’s up?! Holla!

I had a great run in my 13.1 Bondi Band. And several other great runs since this first shot was snapped. I’m so happy with it. And to be honest, the price point is phenomenal. Even though I received it pro bono, I won’t hesitate to purchase more in the future. At $9, these headbands are a steal!

My take on the Bondi Band, in bulleted-form:

Pros
  • Awesome sayings.
  • Large selection.
  • Fits perfectly — not too loose, not too tight.
  • Fashionable and functional.
  • Budget-friendly!
Cons
  • Large selection — could possibly be too large!
  • A little too wide for my head.
Bottom line — would I recommend BondiBand to a friend, or give as a gift? Absolutely. The pros heavily outweigh any fault I could find in Bondi Band.

So wanna know something rad? I’ve got two Bondi Bands to GIVE.

I came across this blog searching for bondiband, you know, trying to find where to order them since I’m not going to be at a running expo anytime soon. Then I saw the pictures and thought: “I’ve got the same 13.1 one” and then “I’ve got that same t-shirt”… Anyway, I love my bondibands as well. First one I bought was in 2012, after running my first half with just a cotton bandana – what a difference! I have since bought three or four more, a couple with “26.2” on it and “Running for beer”… The first two I bought are slowly expiring, too loose around my head now since they’ve been washed so many times. I will also say that if you sparkle a lot, you may have to use more than one on a long run (I switched midway through a marathon). For me, they are good value for the money and fun to wear, also practical as they can keep glasses in place – same idea with earbuds.

Wait, you have the same shirt, too?! Haha. What are the odds. I LOVE my bondi bands. I use them a lot in the fall and spring to cover my ears.
