I’m so exhausted… I have been running on… empty? Nah, just happy. 😉 But I’m still tired!
So how was your weekend? Mine was amazing. Today is typically product review day, but I’m still reviewing a few items. Look for those in coming weeks. Instead, today we will focus on a race recap, my [un]healthy eating habits over the long weekend, and some other nonsense.
On Saturday we took our kiddos to a local festival. I’ve been going to this festival since I was a kid. I LOVED it when I was little. So many rides, so much junk food. Ahhh… yum! Boo loved the rides. His friend N, did not. Lol. But Little Bee made a friend with N’s little sister and had a blast.
Boo waiting for his ride to start!
Cheese!!!
Cotton candy. THIS is what we came for!

The mamas!
We had a yard sale on Sunday. It was a bust. Not a total bust because we did sell a few things, but we essentially had the entire contents of our home in the driveway ready to move some product. Apparently people are too busy on holiday weekends to go yard sale-ing. We may try again. At least the weather was amazing and we played outside all day! Win for my son!
University Heights Memorial Day Run Race Recap
On Monday I ran a 4-miler with my running buddies, and we had a blast. It was pretty warm. I’m glad I wore a tank and sunblock. I also stopped at the aid stations even though it was only 4 miles. And I ran through some sprinklers. It was fun. This was my first year running it, and I’m so glad I did! The course winds through my neighborhood, so I basically felt like I was just out for a little jaunt with 100 other people. It was a very small race, which made it even better. I really enjoyed it. I even fist bumped a gal at the end, who I was using as my pacer. Good times!
My splits were great despite finishing a little slower than I would have liked. I really wanted to finish with my BRF because we’ve never crossed the finish line together and it would have been amazing to do so, but she had been sick all last week so she had to take it easy. I reluctantly left her with about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile left in the race.
Unfortunately I don’t have a mile by mile breakdown for you. I honestly wasn’t paying that much attention. I was just having fun. Sometimes you need those races, ya know? My finish time was 35:48.8 and I was 4th in my age group. Not too shabby.
Julie and I ready to race!

My friend even won a trophy! She got first in her age group, and 3rd overall female! Whoop! So proud of her.
Julie wins!Â
We are all winners at the UH Memorial Day Run! Except for Julie. She’s the real winner.Â

After the race, I rushed home to change clothes and baby wipe myself down to meet up with some friends to watch our city Memorial Day parade! It was so much fun. I was half naked when our friends started arriving so unfortunately I had to haul ass and they had the pleasure of smelling me for the entirety of the parade, but it was awesome. The kids had a blast, we had some great company, and the parade was super cute.
Happy family at the Memorial Day parade!
After the parade we headed over to a friend’s house for an impromptu cookout. I made pasta salad (recipe to come on Monday!) and fruit salad. And my husband bought one of those awesome fudge brownies from Whole Foods. I literally gorged myself on everything everyone brought. People should not be allowed to eat as much as I did. Not cool. But oh, so delicious. Thank you pasta, potatoes, and refined sugars. Topped it all off with a s’mores. Go big or go home, people! Let’s face it. This weekend was a bust in terms of healthy eating. There, I said it!
That was my weekend. How was yours?! What did you end up doing? Any parades, or picnics? Races?
Have a glorious day!
