Spring Soiree, Easter, Training Recap, Marathons. Go!

April 18, 2014
In the spirit of my kiddo being home from spring break, it appears most of my posts this week have been focused on family and less on running. I’m okay with that. Hope you are too. Today I’d like to give you a quick training recap. And some more about my kids. 🙂
This week has been intense. I planned on doing some yoga on Monday but I normally do yoga while Boo is at school, and I frankly didn’t feel like waking up at 6:30 am just to bend and stretch, so I skipped it. Bonus rest day! Tuesday I ran 3 miles and did some strength training. Wednesday I ran 4.5 miles. Yesterday I completed a 40 minute tempo run, which ended around 4 miles (just over but not enough to count). I felt great. I finally found my sweet spot with speed. Hopefully this will improve my long run performance. After my slow finish at the Papa John’s 10-miler in March, I’m really hoping to do better for the half in May.
I have several friends running marathons and half marathons this weekend, mostly in Louisville (Kentucky Derby Marathon) and in Boston (Boston Marathon). I’m so nervous and excited for all of them! They’ve all been training for months for their moments to shine. I can’t wait to hear all about their races.
Today Boo, Little Bee and I are taking it easy. My ankles and calves need a break. Yesterday we attended our playgroup’s annual Spring Soiree/Easter Egg Hunt. It’s always such a fun event, and yesterday was certainly no different! Boo hammed it up with his friend that he’s known since he was a baby, and Little Bee got to play with some new friends and explore unknown territory. It was great fun!

That’s me, trying to say a few words over the baby babbles and loud toddler voices!
Love 🙂

I was going to be brave this morning and attempt a grocery trip with the kids, but my dogs are barkin’ today, so we may lay low and stay home. I’m looking for new recipes to try. For those of you that are vegetarian or vegan, do you have any recommendations for protein-heavy meals? I’ve got so many bean recipes, and they are all yummy, but we’re looking for new tastes and smells to spice up our weekly menu! Leave in the comments below if you have any recipes or recommendations. Thanks!
What else is new? Not much. This weekend I will be putting in five miles on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. Should be fun… ? I’m working on a new product review for you, AND I’ve got an awesome giveaway coming up as well. Stay tuned for that one. It’s so fun!
I think that’s about it for today, friendlies. What are you guys up to? Have a great day!!

What recipes do you have to share?
While we’re talking about food… what is your favorite food? I’m a big proponent of chocolate. Just sayin’…
