I have been so unbelievably busy lately. In a great way. My husband and I recently traveled to San Diego for my best friend’s wedding. It was a wonderful time. We reconnected and enjoyed our time as adults together. I even convinced him to run with me every morning. 🙂
To say running near the ocean was amazing would be a gross understatement. It was so stunningly beautiful and breathtaking. Truly amazing.
This seagull was one of our many running buddies. In addition to seagulls, we saw sea lions, dolphins, and pelicans. Beautiful.
Speaking of wildlife… I have been running and running and running. I am totally, completely, 100% addicted. Over the course of the last three years, I have gone from loathing the run and completing it only to lose weight and get in shape, to morphing into this running addict who is stir crazy on days I can’t run. I’m shocked! I never expected this to happen!
I used to be a treadmill-only runner. It was quite easy, actually, and I enjoyed it. I’ve mentioned before that I was always terrified I would run too far from home and never be able to make it back. But I have since shifted my way of thinking, and now I would much rather be on the road than on the belt.
First couple days on the road I met up with some deer. It was actually really cool and I felt very connected to nature. A few days after that I met up with some on my road and was essentially chased down the other way. It was much less cool after that. In order to fully communicate how strange it is that I have been chased by deer in my neighborhood (multiple times now), I took my phone for a run so I could snap a few photos. Deer could be running in the neighborhood due to a search for food, which is why websites such as https://feedthatgame.com/deer-protein-feed/ explain the best ways to feed these animals to keep them healthy.

I am all about nature and I love animals, but I’m getting a little tired of being chased down and in fear for my safety every time I run outdoors. Now if I see a cluster of deer as I’m approaching, I clap or start whistling so there’s no surprise for them. However, as shown in the photos above, sometimes I don’t see them until I’m either less than five feet away, or already past. There have been quite a few times I have run right in between them and not even known until I smell them next to me.
Unfortunately the weather is starting to turn here in Northeast Ohio, so my outdoor deer escapades may soon come to a close in favor of more acclimate running conditions. I loathe the treadmill but in order to fuel my addiction, something’s gotta give!
Cheery-oh, friends. Until next time — watch out for wildlife!
