Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013

December 31, 2012

Hello and greetings from the last remaining hours of 2012 in the eastern United States!

As I sit here typing away this blog post from my iPhone, the snow has begun to lightly fall and my little Boo is thoroughly enjoying a viewing of Toy Story 2. Our Christmas tree is still up and the glow of lights gives me the warm fuzzy feeling of the holiday season. As 2012 comes to a close, I’d like to take this time to reflect on the past year and look forward to things to come in the next.

2012 brought lots of fun for our little family. Trips to visit with family in Arizona, Maryland, and Indiana. Countless journeys to the zoo. Lots of hot days that we spent in my son’s pool in the backyard with friends. We began renovation on our kitchen! After a lot of planning, allocating resources, setting budgets, finding Dumpster Rental Prices, we finally got underway with things – it’s a project still in the works but so close to completion that I can taste it! However, there do seem to be consistent hiccups throughout the process that is slowing down the finish date. Recently we have been hearing strange fridge noises from our kitchen which has been rather loud, so now I need to get another company out to look at that. But anyway, we’re so excited now as we are just so close to the end! Boo started his first year of school in 2012. He truly loves it and although he has had a bit of trouble figuring out the “rules” of school, he is making a ton of new friends and learning so many new things each and every day.

2012 was the turning point in our lives of living an über healthy lifestyle. During the summer we joined a CSA and ate nothing but fresh produce from local farms all summer. It was delicious and completely phenomenal. I can’t wait for next summer’s bounty!

2012 also brought many new babies and friends into our lives. Many of our friends from playgroup welcomed #2 into their families during the last year. And what a bunch of cuties they are.

Thank you, 2012, for a great year.

Looking forward to 2013, we are going to continue eating healthy, exercising our minds and bodies, and will hopefully finish the never-ending kitchen renovation before the one year mark! There are still a few things left to do but I think we need to order some tools from somewhere like Stonex so that we can complete them. We already own quite a few different industrial tools but I’m sure we’ll be adding more to our collection very soon! If the new tools mean we get the kitchen finished quicker then I will be overjoyed!! Unfortunately, it’s never that easy. Kitchen renovations seem to take longer, there’s so many things to think about. One of my friends was telling me that we should consider keeping the flooring that we already have in the kitchen. She said it might be worth looking to get a steam mop because, apparently, they’re pretty good at removing most dirt and stains from the flooring. Now I think I want a hardwood floor steam cleaner! We’ll have to see, the flooring is one of the most important parts of a room at the end of the day. Hopefully, the actual kitchen renovation won’t take too much longer. We can decide on the decorative parts later! If only my husband read my blog posts… 😉

I’m hoping to open new avenues of my business and really kick things into high gear. We have been busy working hard since we opened for business in April and I’m really excited to see what 2013 has in store for Asher Organics.

2013 will certainly be a busy year for us. My best friend has become recently engaged and will be tying the knot in 2013. So happy for you, babe! Another one of my dear friends is pregnant with twins and will be welcoming her babies into the world in just a few short weeks! Please send vibes her way for 35+ weeks gestation. 🙂

Come June 2013, Boo’s only child status will be expiring as we welcome a new little one into our family! We are all very excited (and anxious) for our family adventure. It has been an interesting road thus far to say the least!

Thank you to all of our family and friends, near and far, for all of your love and support. 2012 was great, and 2013 is sure to be one for the books! Wishing you all a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.

Happy New Year!
